Longtubes

shorties give you sound, but hardly/if any other gains.

a short tube header will have 3 separate primaries (1 for each exhaust port) that merge into one at a collector pipe close to the engine. the primaries are short in length - hence short tube headers. these flow better over the stock manifolds, but long tube headers flow more and can support more flow overall, thus are a better option for a supercharged motor or a motor with more air flow.

and shorties better for turbos?

and heres kinda a "dumb" question: why 3 primaries? V8= 4 primaries?

whats the cost between them?

i meant 4 sorry. typo.

and yea turbo=shortys

long tubes are just about double the price of shortys

shortys from anywhere from 300-500 and long tubes from anywhere from 800-1200

Longtubes. Better investment for the pain in the a job of installing headers, and better WOT performance and way louder.

stainless shorts = $300 or so, stainless Longtubes are around $800, $1300 for a cat & Y pipe kit.

Longtubes are full length and end where your cats are. Dynatech makes the best.

"where my cats end" im guessing the first set? so I would be able to still run the stock exhaust (which I prolly wont) it all would just "bolt up"?

well no not the first set, where they would on an average 2 cat system. You cannot run stock cats with LTs, they will burn out and clog up, best off replacing with 2 hi-flow converters.

If you bought the Dynatech $1200 kit it would bolt up.

of course, If I had the money to buy the headers, I would have money to buy a complete exhaust system.

i'd go with longtubes. either dynatech, OBX(which i did), or JBA. gas mileage stayed about the same. the sound is amazing, and the power gain is totally worth it... the hard part is pullin the old stuff off! and with the obx or dynatech kit you can hook it right back up to your stock exhaust(or catback, the y is in the same place)

most likely I will do a true dual to an X-pipe to 2 simailr mufflers dumped after the axle, not shown from the outside world.
