short or long headers?
So question guys this is what i want to do. long tube headers 3" collector into 3" pipe duels into 3" x-pipe into some sort of performance mufflers flowmasters, ravins, thrush, something 3" two of them and 3" turn down over the rear-end on each side probably sound sick wouldn't it. would it destroy my mpg's or just a little or stay the same ya think? i ask because someone said the long tubes would hurt my mpg's pretty bad but i haven't heard that before.
Pacsetter is an opion too. non stainless but ive had mine for the better part of 3 years that includes michigan winters and salt. painted them with a high temp paint worked for a lil bit then the salt ate most of it off lol. i got mine for 289 dollars i think i saw the price went up to 338 last time i saw them and there made in the good ole USA!
i highly recomend geting an adapter and make it go 3" to 2 1/2" then run the rest of your exhuast 2 1/2" i had true dual 3" after the collector i had no low end power. some collectors come in a 2 1/2"
i ran shortys for a year or 2 no gains any were a lil big deeper sound very easy to hook up but no worth the money. i found this site switched to longtubes night and day diff in power and sound. unless your looking for direct replacement of your stock manifolds because they broke i reccomend saving the money for longtubes!
As for MPG i noticed right after i installed them it went down because i found my self wanting to hear it. after the newness wore off i got the same maybe 1 more MPG.
also if your up there in mileage and havnt done it change your front o2's as well

Cut the pipe size down to 2.25-2.5 and look into performance oriented mufflers, not Slowmaster or Cherry Bomb. Magnaflow, Borla, Corsa, Bullets, these the ones you need to be looking at for performance.

I do recall some people recently getting a "vacation" because they were so brainwashed they couldn't stand someone else having an opinion
I like the sound of my flowmasters and that's what matters to me and my truck
Brainwashed as in had Flowmasters in the past and couldn't stand them because they sounded so trashy, then yes. Regular Maggies do sound rather lame, but Magnapacks are like stainless steel tubes from heaven.
So how much would it kill my low end with 3" all the way through cause thats what i want so i can get that sho nuff beast deep sound out of the 5.4??? i have a friend i run with who has a chevy with 3" all the way through and it took a little away from his but not enough to say cut it back to 2.5".
Sometimes others have to learn too... it takes the shock of not being able to log in to realize when enough is enough.
3 inch duals will be the end of your low end torque. You may have that "sho nuff" sound, but you won't have that "sho nuff" performance. The sound difference isn't even noticeable when you have dual 3 inch pipes, it would be like shooting yourself in the foot for no gains.
Ive got a 2.5" si/so magnapack and it sounds awesome, not trashy at all.
and tarajerame,
now depending on what eaton i get, what would be good for that on a stock block? Im thinkin LTs and Id like to keep it at a single pipe and not to duals so 3" all the way out?

So says a kid with a set of 10 series, mmmmmm.
