Have them powder coated, longest lasting method.

Will a standard powder coating do? Or will a high temp powder coating be needed?

You could take steel wool at then to roughen them up, if you have them powder coated the shop will take it from there.

Sand them with some rough grit sand papers, steel wool, and finalize it with like 1000 grit. Then clean them off, shoot some adhesion promoter, primer, paint, and high temp clear.

i painted mine myself with high temp duplicolor paint and had to touch them up every few months from little rock chips. But i had them cut off by my local exhaust shop and sent them in to be powdercoated! should be done in a few days...doin the same for my dads tips.

I would have them chopped off for a little while and have them powder coated to guarantee they will not chip.

no it'll look exactly like paint, its just a more perminant bonding method than the average spray.

I say its not! after buying paint and tape a few times it will start to add up $$$. It cost me $10 bucks to have the tips cut off, prolly $10 to weld them back on and it is $20 for the powdercoating. Id say the $40 bucks to get them powdercoated is worth it

Also the finish is smooth...with powdercoating you can have just about every color too i.e. gloss black, flat black.

good luck
