Anyone with 97-03 4.6 no cats
Im planning on getting two or all cats taken off. and wanted to know how hard it was with the 97 to 03 f150s. I have a 98 with the 4.6 and ive had a buddy of mine who runs a mech shop say it looked to tough for him. but i want to get some more sound out of my super 44 so will yall help me out ? lol
Deleting the rears isn't too bad of a job, its limited space though, and the cross member is a PITA in your generation's case. Delete the rears and keep the fronts, it will roar.
oh hell yeah she'll roar. it just as you said a pita lol. if it wasnt for the crossmember and the bend in the pipe right at the cross member and lack of material it would be done already lol
Deleting the rears is the next thing I'm doing to my truck. I don't have a muffler at all and it's too quite for me. Going to delete the rear longer cats and just keep the little front ones on my '01. Then I'll probably be looking to run duals and an x pipe and a muffler depending on how it sounds with no muffler. I actually just called an exhaust shop yesterday and he quoted me $150 to cut out the rear cats and weld in straight pipes in their place. Think I'm going to try to tackle it myself though (have a welder at work). Let us know how it sounds if you get it done.
Don't take your cats off. It'll make your truck stink like a 70's muscle car. It will ruin your interior, cause everytime you open your door, that raw fuel smell will get in the cab. Other than the stink, and the extra noise, it's ok.
