should I replace the stock Y pipe??

should I replace the stock Y pipe??

Im looking into a new exhaust system but money is a bit tight nowadays
so my question is since I want to go with a single 3" exhaust should i replace the OEM Y pipe to a maggie 2 1/2 inlet, 3 outlet??? what would be the benefits if I do/dont?

ah people keep asking the same questions haha...if money is tight just buy a muffler and tip of your choice online. if your doing a SI SO muffler run it 3" all the way through from the Y to the tips. thats the best performance and ull be runnin about 300 bucks max, instead of 600 minimum with a kit

Im gonna do 3" from the Y with a 18 or 14 maggie(undecided) dumped, muffler shop guy quoted me at 170. Im just not sure if I should get that Y pipe???

theres no reason to get a new y pipe..unless its all rusted out. u can ask them to put new piping on the y if u want

Well the OEM Y pipe being a dual 2.5" in to single 2.5" out causes restriction. Some shops can chop the outlet of the Y pipe till its 3" and run the 3" pipe from there. Otherwise the Magnaflow Y pipe is a great piece. If your installer can run the 3" from the OEM Y, go for that to save $30. If not, then the Magnaflow Y pipe will be excellent.

thanks darren, Ill find out if they can do that with the OEM Y. An extra 30 bucks aint that much though, but it would be nice save those lol

Now for the maggie, which one would give the best tone...Im looking for a really DEEP tone...would it be the 14" or 18", 4X9 or 5X8?????

x2. Those are the loudest available, the 11" is deeper where as the 14" will crackle a little more. I'm runnng the 11"s. Very deep sounding and still aggressive.
