Installing Cats

Ok, I've got my Maganflow 94106 cats in. I have a buddy that does exhaust in my town. He said that he couldn't weld the new cats in place of the first set of cats because the first set is at an angle, but he could put them in place of the second set so he said that my check engine light would come on. Is there anyway to prevent this? Thanks

??

Theres no problem in putting the cats where the rear set is after removing all 4 OEM. Thats how its supposed to be done, and thats how 2006+ 2 cat OEM systems are. You'll be fine as long as the rear O2 sensors are re-mounted after the new cats. Is that the reason you want the new cats in the angle of the pre-cats? Just have him move the O2 sensors back, re-mount it in the pipes after the new cats are in ( after the cats, not before, not in them, after ) Guaranteed no engine light.

Well if he doesn't want to screw with the sensors then yeah it wouldn't work, but the cats are installed before sensors ever are. All he needs to do, mandrel bend you ( in 2.5" ) new piping from the cut off of the front cats, install the cats, and finish connecting the system together, then atleast an inch after the new cats, drill and bung mount the O2 sensor, install sensor, walla

I'm not positive but you should not need any. The cats if mounted as close to the bend as possible the O2s should fit right into place. I'll crawl under mine tomorrow and study how much slack it has and come back with an answer.

dont forget about 05's. i had 2 oem cats also. if your just redoing the cats there should be enough room and slack so the extenders aren't needed.if replacing the rears, remember the 94106's are 2-3 inches shorter than stock and put in stock place of the rears will have plenty of room for added bung to fit the 02's. i had to extend mine cause of the long tubes, had to move the cats back pretty far back. you need nothing but a weld.

Hey guys. Got my 94106's installed, and love them. LOTS LOUDER!! So i decided to to see acctually how loud I could go. So I took off my muffler and just let it come out where the bolt on part is. LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the exact tone I wanted. Similar to UGACOOPs truck. I'm going to put a dump on it, but first I wanted to know if it was hurting my engine or something. I don't care for performance, but I heard it could ruin my valves. Just wanting everyones .02 on it. Thanks

depends on where you live and what the cops are like. as far as i know, there's no law that says you must have a muffler, but there are laws with regards to noise pollution in my area. where i live, if you have a loud, but not obnoxious aftermarket exhaust you're going to be just fine. interestingly enough, i've never heard of anyone on a harley getting pulled for exhaust, and some of them are incredibly loud. YRMV.

Google your local inspection laws for your county.
