Looking for Ideas with my New Saleen Exhaust

I installed the Saleen CB a couple of months ago and everything seems to be OK. The sound is fine, not too loud, but it's definitely noticeable. As it currently sits, the 2 2 1/2" pipes come out of the back of the muffler, over the axle, and stretch towards the bumper but fall short and simply turn down about 6" short of the bumper, one on each side of the spare tire. I like the stealth look of it, but I'm kind of thinking about adding 3 1/2" or 4" tips to get a little deeper sound. If I did the tips, they would definitely show...either straight out the back or 45'd after the rear wheels. I am also considering tips out the side in front of the passenger rear wheel, L style.

My question is...what would these changes do to the tone of the exhaust? I would like to avoid the in-cab drone that so many people seem to get, as I have absolutely NONE right now. The wife actually likes it as it sits and the 3 month old goes right to sleep on drives.

Any and all comments welcome, thanks!

Straight out the back or 45'd you would probably get a deeper sound becuase the sound is projected, esp 45'd due to more sound guidance off things you pass. Your set-up is turned down so it travels to the pavement. Drone, maybe with the Lightning style, the others you shouldn't have a prob

True, but that would depend on the muffler's location and the muffler type/brand in general. Turn downs under the body would usually have more drone if I am not mistaken.

Thanks for the replies fellas...

I've never really been a huge fan of the 45 degree tips out the back, something just doesn't look right about it. I saw a Ram on the highway yesterday with 2 pipes 45'd after the wheels and it looked weird, I guess, seeing the side of the entire polished tip like that. I think it would look better if the tip was angled down so you didn't see the whole thing.

Looks like most guys are running 4"x18" stainless tips.

I was also thinking about removing the rear cat....any repercussions from taking that out? Anyone ever put a cutout in place of the cat?

Well its all about preference. When done right it looks incredible imo.

As for rear cats, delete them if you dont have emissions checking. Cheap and affordable way to gain sound and torque.

We don't have emissions checking around here, so the rear cat will probably be coming out this summer.

Great work on your truck, Darren. When you took out your cat, did you just cut it out or unbolt it and use a flange on the test pipe?

Pretty much. I have developed a couple leaks though, so welding it shut might be best.

Crap, sorry....after I posted, I did some scouring and have been reading through the 6 pages of your thread.

I can't remember what the exhaust looks like under the truck...does it come back from both manis into a single pipe then into all 4 cats....or, are there pre-cats inline before they collect into the last two? I can't remember from doing my catback...I didn't really look around much under there, I just focused on the task at hand.

All cats are before the Y pipe connection. It goes pre cat, rear O2, then rear cat, on both banks ( 1 pre and 1 rear cat per exhaust bank ).
