flowmaster muffler-exhaust temp?
flowmaster muffler-exhaust temp?
how hot do you guys think the exhaust piping gets in front of a flowmaster muffler? its a si/do knockoff 40 series flowmaster. i'm thinking about cutting the inlet end of the muffler off just to hear what it would sound like, then jb weld it back together(i dont have access to a welder right now) if i dont like it. the jb weld claims to handle up to 600*f.
thanks for any help

Intermediate pipes are never very hot, usually 200 - 300, and after that its even cooler. The cats hold back alot of heat, but are burning hot to the touch, so generally, it'll be fine.
i really like the exhaust without the muffler hooked up. i ended up going to autozone and got a piece of pipe to connect the muffler to the system and got a 90* elbow and a foot long piece of 2 1/2" pipe and some clamps. i still have the muffler and tailpipes on it just not hooked up to the system right now. i have the exhaust exiting before the tire right now between the cat and the muffler. its pretty loud for a little 5.0 too. same type of deal as a cutout only alot more work to change it up. i had everyone looking at me today.
