New Exhaust

Right now I have a x piped glass pack exhaust system and I would like to upgrade to true dual exhaust (custom; not the kits with cheap tubing). I have been looking into magnaflows and this shop that I got my glass packs installed said magnaflow would be about $325-350 for the custom bent pipes and the two mufflers, and tips included also. Is this a pretty nice sounding throaty kit? What size mufflers should I get and what type of set up with magnaflow sounds the best?

And if you aren't a magnaflow fan, what do you think sounds the best?

Thanks!

well im sure darren will chime in, but in my opinion the 14" magnaflow and 11" bodies are very good sounding mufflers. quite at idle but sounds beast under WOT. ive got an 18" oval body and sounds awesome. If you have an extra $100-$150 go with 2 borla XR-1s. they are the best sounding mufflers IMO. im sure other people will mention the Roush Off Road Kit, but have fun spending 600 bucks.

would you prefer the 11" bodies over what your setup is now?

I have the 11" mufflers, have a listen, loud and clear, not obnoxious.

If you have an X pipe that means your already running dual exhausts ( true duals )

I'm not sure what to call it but its one pipe coming into a single glass pack and coming out two pipes. So Y pipe?

Yes thats a single exhaust. Every stock exhaust has a Y pipe after the cats.

You can run true duals if you would prefer to. The X pipe will be needed for that to retain scavenging.

Alright sweet! And does deleting the cats make it louder?

Thank you for the gramatical fix I was multitasking at the time!

So yeah I'm thinking about deleting the cats, getting true dual with prob 14" Mags and new rolled tips. Sound good? Or are the new Super 44s really worth getting? I heard they aren't as loud as the super 40 but they make the interior sound quieter.

Removing cats does increase torque a bit due to the exhaust is able to flow better, but it also makes your exhaust very illegal and liable for a expensive fine if caught.

Super 44s sound good.

I love the sound of yours I'm thinking of getting the same setup, but in that video you showed me I was watching the same one earlier and it sounds a little louder for some reason. Is your inside noise annoying to you? I saw the video and it didn't sound too bad, but if its annoying then I might go with the 44 because thats why they made them.

Well Flowmaster mufflers are chambered and baffled which makes them louder than packed and direct flow mufflers. The packing absorbs sound to give a rich deep tone, not a tin can chambered sound

My truck doesn't annoy me alot but going up a hill it can be annoying. My exhaust drones because its true dualed, and i removed two cats. Flowmasters are louder inside than Magnaflows are so if inside peace is a factor you might not want to go that route.

By the way, Super 44s are the loudest 2 chamber muffler Flowmaster makes, so yes it is louder than the 40 series, and Super 40s.
