Installed my new intake yesterday

I installed my Volant intake system yesterday and I absolutely love it! That annoying throttle lag is gone and my exhaust got a hell of alot louder.

Thats great. Great choice of intake too. If thats a 5.4L you best get it custom tuned because your now running lean with the additional air you are drawing in.

No your safe. The 2v engines ( including the 2004+ 4.6L ) can have CAI kits without needing a tune, the MAF in the 3v 5.4L is vert sensitive and with more air induction it runs lean since its brining limited fuel in. Custom tuning corrects it. Result with not custom tuning is a blown engine thousands of miles later. Another reason I wouldn't ever buy a 3v truck with a custom intake unless it has a tuner module.

Nope, I got the 4.6 in mine but not to worry because I plan getting an edge evolution programmer for my next mod to really wake the motor up.

I don't know what the 4.6L uses, but in the picture it looks like the MAF sensor is in a housing of it's own, so I don't believe it will run lean. It is still properly sensing how much are it is breathing.
On my 5.4, the maf sensor is like a little wafer that gets inserted into the intake tube. When inserted into a larger, less restrictive tube it will not properly meter the amount of air coming through the system, without tuning.

Did you get regular filter or power core? Great choice on cai i have the same one in mine, but with power core filter. Ive had it since dec and have not had any issues, not blue smoke or any engine issues as far as running lean. I just disconnected battery to let ecu re learn new air flow.

Yes I did because I liked the fact that you don't have to oil it.

The power core filter is a dry filter and does not need to be oiled it is good for 100,000 miles.

PHP was dynoing an aftermarket intake and then removed the snout from the stock intake, which is essentially what the Gotts/DWV mod does. They were within 3 or 4 HP of being the same results.

Ok that's good to know. Now am getting my dual exhaust, currently still trying to find parts for the DWV intake, and want to do a tuner w/an economy tune. As of right now, with just short trips around town (school work ect only about 14 miles a day when I work - 6when I don't) I am getting 15mpg. With those 3 additions, will my mpg increase again?
