Air Silencer Removed

i yanked out the air silencer last night and here's the results:
deeper, meaner exhaust note
a tad more intake noise (and i do mean just a tad)
touchier, snappier throttle response

I think it's a great mod for those who have done the gott's intake mod. and btw, there is no cutting involved - just pull it out with a pair of needle nose

Is this the same as the mufflers on the 5.4 intakes?

i have no idea about the 5.4
i dont have pics
the silencer is inside the intake elbow. it's like a tube inside a tube. the innner tube is the silencer which is easily pulled out with a pair of needle nose pliers. the only "hard" part is prying apart the rubber grommet thingy (the piece of rubber between the elbow and the air filter box) from the inatke elbow. do this part carefully. don't wanna rip the rubber

post a picture of the inlet tube...

I'm going to lean on the side of NO since the 3 valves probably use the same parts like the 2 valves did

I wish I could post a pic but my truck is being built right now, and I will pick her up in August.

I would love to know if someone has taken that huge intake off their 3v 5.4 and opened it up. I just dont get what all the extra plastic is for. Is there a silencer in there? I want to do the PVC mod, but I also want to see if there is any guts that can be removed from the OEM intake.

You need to read a couple of the threads in the Tech Articles and How To section dealing with the intake mod. Quite a few have cut the silencers off of the 5.4 intake and plugged the holes.
