H-pipe questions

I have 3 questions.

1) Will an H-pipe give me that nice raspy Mustang sound, along with some Magnaflow 14416 mufflers (aka Magnapacks) and high flow cats?
2) What are the performance differences between H-pipes and X-pipes?
3) Should I have a shop make an H-pipe or buy a Mustang one and fab it up to my truck?

h= sound,x=performance/a mustong h -pipe would have to be shortened to even work on a f 150, lose 2 of your cats as well

There is nothing you can do to make your truck sound like a mustang.

Just about the closest you can get to a stang.

Ok, Maybe I wasn't clear enough. By "Mustang sound" I meant that nice raspy high pitched race car sound. Like this.

The only difference in the exhaust systems would be long tube headers and he has an ultra expensive x-pipe. I only have 2 cats and they will be changed out for the hi-flows. And my engine is the 4.6,so it won't sound as deep as the 5.4. Would my setup sound close to the way that car sounds?

When I had an H-pipe I liked the sound, but imo no where near the 'mustang sound'. Now with an X-pipe I feel like its very close at startup, acceleration, and cruising!

Darren can tell you about this best

This is what I'm running, there are sound clips in my photobucket, and pictures in an album on my new f150online gallery.

2.25" piping
magnaflow X-pipe
SLP LM1's
SLP 5" rolled tips
I love the sound, and think its really close to that mustang sound. I'll try to get a drive by clip and ride along clip this week

Well the H pipe will keep a little more volume but wont crossflow as well. X pipes scavenging is much healthier for performance and the best way to balance true duals. Any exhaust guy could fab up an H pipe, its simple. I say the $50 universal stainless ebay X pipe is very well worth getting.

I will also agree that FX4life's truck sounds the most like the way you are describing. But hi-flow cats with magnapacks could be very similar. It will sound more like Cashel's truck but yours will be a hint louder due the shorter length exhaust.

I'm debating to go with those tips, or shorter smaller diameter tips found on GT's. If I go with the GT tips, I'd have to dump it like FX4LIFE did his.

Well as long as it has tips. I hate turn downs but they sound just as good as most tailpipe setups with tips on them. The echo metallic affect from tips is just sweet. How are you planning to run the tailpipe/turn downs? before axle or after?

If I go that route, after the axle with about a foot or 2 spaced between the tips. Basically like FX4LIFE's.
