Flowmaster -vs-Magnaflow

I have a 2006 screw with a 5.4, 4x4, and a 78inch bed. I'm trying to decide between a flowmaster sido cat back system that exits straight out the rear or a magnaflow sido cat back system that exits straight out the rear. Comparing the two I like the magnaflow better because the tips are 3.5 inches compared to flowmasters 3.0 inches. Could anyone give me any information, pictures, or sound clips that may help me with my decision? Any help is always appreciated.

In my opinion I like flowmasters better, they just sound better. They are also generally louder. But you did not say what you are looking for as far as sound. You can get any size tips that you want...maybe the kit you are looking at only offers 3 inch but, which I would say atleast go with 3.5 inch.

If you want to make noise get a slowmaster if you want power get the magnaflow. Here is a clip of the magnaflow cat back part number 16614

and this is what it sounds like with long tubes.

and your pipe size should not be bigger than 2.5 I make over 400 to the wheels and I run 2.5 pipes

Magnaflow is more of a mellow/deeper tone "performance" sounding muffler. Id say get the Flowmaster super44 si/do muffler, more aggressive sounding. do not order a "catback" system. just order the muffler and tips of your choice online and have the shop bend pipes however u want.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm looking to gain more power and have a decent sound. I'm not looking for anything obnoxiously loud.

Is there a specific reason to avoid the cat back system? A friend of mine can get me the cat back systems for a decent price in my opinion. Flowmaster would be $350 and the Magnaflow would be $415. That would give me everything and I could bolt it on in an hour.

several people have had issues with the pre fabbed cat backs clearing spare tires and lining up straight, you can get a better install if you have a shopo make the pipes for you

Well firstly realize the Flowmaster cat-backs contain the 50 series mufflers and Magnaflow kits contain the 18" bodies. The Magnaflows sound and perform better and are made of stainless steel. Much better kit in my opinion. If you wanted to go Flowmaster the Super 44 is the only muffler worth using from them.

I have had my Flow 40 SIDO for about 4 years and 80,000 miles. Yes, I lost a little low end torque, but not anything I really need, and I love the sound. Got mine at a local shop and had the pipes bent to go out the back. It was $225 installed. That included tips, 3 1/2 by 18".

I've noticed that there is a wide range of prices for different parts of the country, plus prices are probably higher now.

Yeah, I got it around 3 years ago, Flowmaster Original 40, Tailpipes, 3 1/2x18" SS tips, out the door for 350.
