TRUE Duals?

Last time I checked into it, the dual exhaust systems on the market came together in the middle, then split again to create the dual appearance.
This brings two questions to mind; does anybody make TRUE duals that don't come together?...and are the systems that DO join in the middle as effective?

Single exhausts with dual outlet mufflers perform healthier than true duals does. Unless your trucks pushing atleast 300 horses at the rear wheels the engine is not strong enough to require true duals.

For true duals, you would need to have an exhaust shop fabricate your system.

I have true duals on my 05 and though it doesn't add any hp than a regular system it sounds louder than a single setup obviously. I disagree on the required hp of a true dual setup though. A mustang gt has 300hp but not at the wheels and has a true dual setup with a x-pipe if I remember correctly. I don't think there's much of an hp difference between the two setups but the sound is what you'e going for I think. My true dual glasspack setup on my 4.2l 05 is louder than the roush o/r setup on my 08 5.4l. lol.

Of course they do...They are single in-single out mufflers. You just buy two and remove they Ypipe outta your stock system. They arent bolt on kits, like the other fella said you have to have a shop custom one together. thats what i have right now. True dual 14" magnaflows. Its generally cheaper to have this done then a bolt on anyway...

Like was said above, you will need to have it custom made, if you buy the muffler(assuming you want one), x-pipe, and tips online you will most likely be cheaper than buying a si/do kit(catback). My exhaust cost 225$, and that was buying the tips from the shop and having him build a custom x-pipe. Also the power issue is pretty much mute, because the number of hp were talking about is almost nothing, I have ran Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Imco, all catback si/do. I have had true duals with flowmaster, and now straights and there was no noticeable difference in power.

Do not get true duals without an X pipe.

I am looking at 2 options for true duals. 1. headers, hi-flow cats than straight to a Dynomax bullet out the front tire of the pax side, no X pipe. 2. same as above but using the Dynomax ultra flow X muffler. The only question with option 2 is that this type of muffler has a built in X pipe inside it and putting an additional X pipe in the system would be beneficial at all, even though the closer the X pipe to the front of the system the better.

No, true duals simple means there is one pipe running off each manifold w/o joining in one place basically.

Go to a different shop. The one you went to is either ignorant (I wouldn't want them working on my truck!) or they're trying to rip you off by making you buy (and pay them to install) unnecessary equipment.

Did you look at the link I posted above? I'm guessing no.

Maybe, Dodge motors are extraordinarily loud. Your only chance IMO would be 2.5" True Duals, X pipe no muffler. And then if he takes his muffler off, forget it.

Unless you have hardcore $ to spend.
