DWV intake mod for 2004-2008 F150 with 5.4L engine

I've driven mine just a little since Wednesday night. It seems a touch more responsive. Gonna change the filter over the weekend and I'm guessing I'll be able to tell the difference then. Dirty filters don't flow regardless how much air you give them. The exponential gain in flowrate had to be an improvement.

I have an AEM intake now and might stick the stock one back on and try this mod. It was on the truck when I just bought it but too noisy for me.
Removing the "baffles" as some call them really is not going to gain anything. They are actually called Helmholtz resonators, and in fact do a serve a purpose in the tuning of the stock intake. They are not just silencers as alot of people think.

makes sense and therefore shouldn't be any problems with removing?
then again i won't gain any extra horsepower and my 3" spectre flex tube makes a nice whine already especially when i get on it throughout all rpm ranges

So I did this mod yesterday, mine was done differently but the same idea and for whatever it is worth the on board fuel calculator that shows L/100km went from 22.9 to 19.1 after about 30 min of light city driving. I will pay more attention on my next fill up to see if it made any real improvements but as far as I am concerned, so far so good. Now if someone posts some real proof about removing the baffles I will be all for it.

Ok, some forums are pretty harsh and I didn't want to step on any toes. As far as the mod is concerned I cant pretend I feel a HP increase but the fuel calculator just keeps showing more MPG as I go, not tones but .1 here or there for a total of around 2 mpg difference. Keep in mind this is just based on the on board fuel calculator.
