What should I purchase first S&B cai or Magnaflow muffler

2007 XLT 4.6 2wd. Whichever I purchase first, the other will be purchase months later. Which one work best without the other? I'll learning toward the magnaflow muffler with dual exhaust. BY reading the forum it seem 18" is the prefer choice by most with behind the wheel exit pipe. (No cab noise).

Don't run CAI w/o a tune, run the risk of running lean. Go with the Magnaflow, Tune then CAI.

I've got the S&B and did that first, but only just before taking it to be tuned. It showed to be running a bit lean, but not dangerously. It did need to be richened up a little bit, but not much. If you dont have a tune or plan on doing one in the near future, just do the Magnaflow and wait until you have money that can support doing the intake and tune at the same time.

I'd do exhaust first.

Wrong man, the lean condition is only true with 3v engines ( 5.4L '04 - '08, and the 3v 4.6 for '09 ) due to the programming of the MAF is not able to handle all the extra force of air. 2v engines are not affected.

A device with custom tunes. The two better one's are Xcal3 and Gryphon. If you just want canned tunes, the Edge is good for stock engines.

Made my decision Magnaflow

Went to my local muffler shop today to research magnaflow muffler. The shop had one 18" long with 2 1/4" alumininzed piping with 3 1/2" tips $289.00 to installed. Is this a go deal and does the piping material makes a different?
