D.I.Y. Exhaust?
D.I.Y. Exhaust?
Ive been runnin no muffler for a couple months now and I'm sick of it. I am wanting to get a 40 series Si/So and just do a side exit before my rear tire. The 40 series muffler is only around 70 bucks, my local exhaust shop wants $150 for the muffler + installation, (with either a turn-down or running it into your OEM pipe.) With the side exit they want $200. Is there any way I can install the muffler and do the side exit myself with just exhaust clamps instead of welding? Also, what size inlet will I need? Truck is a '99 with the 4.6L.

Supplies, your muffler, exhaust tip, a 45 degree bent adapter, and a couple pieces of pipe ( 2.5" ).
With three clamps, slip fit/flanged end pipes, a pipe cutter, and a universal hanger & clamp, you can do it all yourself.

That will work too. I should have said sawzall is how you'll end up removing OEM equipment, but pipe cutter would be best for small pipe cutting, a sawzall can do it too, but might not be as straight depending if you have a vice to hold the pipe.
