Dynomax muffler?

My son purchased a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler for my 2004 F-150 SuperCab. My question is will this muffler fit my truck? It has an inlet diameter of 2.25 and an outlet diameter of 2.25. The model # on the box is 17731. I'm not sure if this is the right size for my truck. Does anyone know how these mufflers sound? Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I got a Dynomax si/do this time around.. I believe its 14-16 long..It sounds pretty good about as loud as my last Maggie...The maggie didn't last too long.. One end completly rotted out

I need to get the welded one next time,I'll learn my lesson one day.. I got pictures of it if you care to look??

I'm thinkin' no, pretty sure you'd need a 2.5". The muffler I had on mine was 3", a Dynomax system. Sounded throughty, big blockish, but the damn thing rotted (salty winters). It sounded best near the end when I removed the tailpipe.

Dynomax will give you a good sound, you just need a 2.5" in/out and you're set.

Listen to this guys. I think this is what you are looking for and he has a Magnaflow with the part number listed. All he did was do a muffler swap with tip. I am doing basically the same thing but I want a little louder and deeper.
If you go with a little shorter body of muffler the louder and deeper it will get. I am by no means an expert with this but from looking and reading and looking at Darrens posts, this is what I have come to understand.

Heres the link to his thread with sound clips.

So what exactly will I have to do to get the 2.5 in/out? Is that replacing all the EO piping or some kind of adapter?

And your correct man. Smaller = louder and deeper. Larger ones are deep too, but the louder volume of the smaller case mufflers throws the deep sound louder.

You really should trade it for a 2.5" version. 2.25" single exhaust is much too small and will not hold proper velocity for the engine. Go to your advanced auto/auto zone/napa and tell them you want the same exact muffler in 2.5", once received go have it installed. That way your son will still be happy to have given you a good gift, whether you tell him it was too small or not, trading mufflers is free - $2.00, depends what hidden charge they give you.

You should be happy with a Dynomax, they don't get alot of fanfare but are a great muffler. Personally, I like them way more than Flowmaster. When I had my catback 3"si/so, it sounded nice. I do like the added noise my JBA system makes now plus I really benefit from a stainless setup that won't rot. Dynomax's sound sweet when the stuffing inside deteriorates, ask my bro. He had 2.5" dual super turbo's on his stang, with no cats, it was like he was running straight pipes, real crispy loud.
