5.4 headers on 4.6?

Has anyone tried this? I've read that the bolt pattern matches up. Clearance shouldn't be an issue since the 4.6 is smaller, right?

All 2v 4.6s with headers take the 5.4 headers because no one really makes any for the 4.6 ( longtube that is ) The 4.6L has not changed until 2009, so you should be able to bolt on 5.4L 2v longtubes no problem.

So the 3 valve 5.4 headers won't fit? I've looked on Pacesetters website and under their Quik Trip LT's they have a set for the 04-08 5.4's/4.6's. Is Quik Trip even a reliable company?

im not sure if they would work, i was looking at my engine (4.6) and also at my dads (5.4) his engine seemed to sit a little higher than mine. i asked pace setter about theirs that said they would fit the 4.6 on summits site, and they said no. so i would just be sure before you spend all the money

Ok, good news everyone! I called Pacesetter and they do have long tube headers for the 04-06 4.6! The only problem is that they won't be available for about 60-90 days. The guy said that they will cost about $440 for the painted set.

Towards the bottom of the list

Guys with emission testing, specifically CA, these are "Off road use only" meaning they wont pass inspection for most people. Just a warning.

No problem dude. I'm sure you could fit cats onto them, couldn't you? Just need a shop to weld them on.

oh ya, thats not a problem, just over here in Commie-Fornia Long tubes are pretty much a "no-no". Most of the time, you can get them to pass the sniffer, but its the actual visual inspection that will get most people. Not all

Why are long tubes no good in "that state"? If it's got a cat on it and it passes the sniffer test then it should be alright.
