you would think. But, common sense, reason, and logic are all lost on the douche's running this state.

They have a whole CARB certified thing, basically you pay CA money, and your aftermarket equipment is legal in the state. Its ways for them to earn more money.

Roush Super charger: perfect example. A couple years ago, it was illegal and "not approved" for use in a CA vehicle. Now, since they bought the CARB cert, it is completely legal. No other changes were made.

I bet that could be taken to court and this whole CARB BS would be done with once and for all.

the 3 valve 5.4 headers will not fit to a 2 valve 4.6 engine (as far as I know the exhaust manifolds are different bolting patterns but I may be mistaken)

however some of the older 2 valve 5.4 headers might a newer 4.6 2 valve seems to be plenty of room behind the front cross member of the 2 wheel drive trucks

It's cool now man. Pacesetter is coming out with a set specifically made for the 04-06 4.6's. No need for me to take a gamble with the 5.4 headers.

Oh yeah, 2 valve 5.4 headers WILL fit 2 valve 4.6's, but stuff in the way is what many people have run into. Shorties should be less of an issue then LT's.

Well if the ones Pacesetter is offering are only painted and not true stainless, I wouldn't bother with them. There have been many bad experiences with painted sets, the heat overtime wears the paint off, water/moisture eventually rusts them and partially corrodes, and salt eventually corrodes them quickly.

anyone know if anybody here has successfully gotten a set of 2v 5.4 shorty headers to work on a 2v 4.6? is it just the egr valve or whatever it is that poses the problem, or is it the actual size of them? would it be any different on a 4x4?

Many have. The EGR is pretty much it, and the PITA install. 4wd makes things more difficult because space is much more limited due to the transfercase but its still the same methods.

Well they will make them in stainless steel but it will cost more. I didn't bother to ask how much though.

Hate to bring up this old thread but I'm hoping that one of you guys will know if those headers for the 04-08 4.6 will fit for an 03? I don't see why they wouldn't work, the body style is the only thing that changed.
