I was looking at Magnaflow 35124 tips to go with my SI/DO 14278 muffler. do you think those tips would be to short for a side exit behind the rear tire application?

 

At only 4.5" of total length, yes! very short. Hell 12" looks too short. I prefer 18" length tips on trucks, nomatter where the tips are located, straight out or side swept.

I may not put any tips on it at all. My truck has very little chrome on it and the chrome tips may look out of place. I even condidered black tips but I don't think anybody makes them. So many options to consider

 

Get stainless steel tips, scuff them up, and paint them black with some high temp spray.. worked for me!

Another vote for 18", 12" is just too short and they look like tips. The 18" don't look like they were an afterthought. I just put on 18" and they look sweet. Very similar to Darren's picture above. I'd take one myself but my truck is dirty and it is raining out
