Exhaust, louder but with what?

Hello all,

97 5.4, true dual 2.5" with a X, still have all four cats, and its as loud as a kitten purrring.

What could i put in here, besides high flows, that would make it louder? possible "rapp" more ?

any help appreciated

Longtube Headers.

Those, with hi-flow cats, and straight pipes, would certainly satisfy the 'want i louder' nerve.

Are you running a muffler-less exhaust? if not what muffler are you running? I have an '05 5.4 that I am debating on running muffler-less or with a 10 or 40 series flowmaster.

If you want more "rapp" take off your X pipe. True dual straights, without X or H pipes, are louder and raspier. That is what I started with and added my X pipe after. I would not recomend it but some guys like that sound. I am going to add long tube headers and high flow cats over the winter, hopefully, and that is also supposed to add a lot of volume.

Good information. Its true that no crossover will be louder, but the truck will perform better properly balanced. But it doesn't have to have a cross over.

Heres a truck with no mufflers, and hi-flow converters, X piped.

thanks everyone that had some imput.
I think the X is going to stay in there, i like it a lot.

no mufflers are on it, but i think the exhaust will just have to stay the way it is.

Oh well
