will true dual straights sound wierd on my 4.6l v8?

Uhh, when did this become a true fact? A true dual exhaust setup maximizes flow efficiency and therefore gives you more horsepower. Would you like to have one lung? IMHO single's are just plain stupid. I can't wait to get true duals on my truck. And if you don't believe me, go drive a base LX Crown Vic, and take out a P71 or an LX Sport afterwards and tell me if you notice a difference. Best thing about my MM, true duals from the factory, and I just upgraded the stock system all around. And no, true duals sound badass on a 4.6l. Back in highschool I had them on my '95 CV and it was loud as hell, and sounded badass all together. And yes, that was a single system from the factory and I added a true dual setup.

OPEN HEADERS!!!! get some HF cats and put cut-outs in front of them hehe check my sig theres 2 open header vids in there. i ran my 4.6L with just turn downs off the last cat and it sounded pretty good but not loud enogh for me
3"Long tube headers and dynomax bullets solved that prob for me

You obviously dont understand what true duals on an all stock engine with no tune for the exhaust acts like. Yes true duals will 'breath out' better as two lungs would, but the scavenging is elliminated minorly, and noticeably. Unless an engine is programmed for duals, has a high displacement and/or output, and modifications and the induction to match the open displacement of a true dual exhaust system. All it will do on a stock F150 is sound sweet. Until performance modifications are added to match the flow of the exhaust, it will not increase horsepower.

I was going to say the exact same thing, minus 90 percent of it, lol.

no its hard on the valves with no back pressure hollow the front two out put high flows where the back two are and get a flowmaster or magna flow and you will get no MPGs i tired it you lose low end and mpg so its not worth it

Theres still cats, so the valves will be fine.
sorry because my trucks age difference between yalls but i have a 1990 Ford F150 5.0with true dual straight pipes i really didnt notice any hp gain to tell you the truth i cant stand the smell of the exhaust when im hooking up my trailer cause its all over ya other than that i love them they sound like a beast and it sounds really good when i start accelerating and ive never heard them on a fly by but you can surely hear them in the cab i say if you want as loud as you can get go with true dual straight pipes they are loud as hell and i know my neighbors love me because of them lol
I saw that yall were talking about true duals, i have a 2002 4.6L and i cut out all my cats, and yes my cel came on, but i luckly found some o2 sims. At first from the flanges of my manifolds, i ran straight pipe into 2 40 series flowmasters dumped under the cab, my truck was loud as hell, and sounded like an old muscle car, really throaty. So i went back to the muffler shop and had the guy put on some 23 inch glasspacks to act like resanators to tone it down a bit. Now its still a little throaty, but it has a deeper roar to it. Since doing that i am now tired of the flowmaster sound and i am going to try a DI/SO maggie and see how that goes.
i just want a beastly loud as hell sound. will regular straights sound better or will true dual straights be louder? either way i am getting straights and not cutting out my cats because i have to go through inspection. which is louder but still sounds deep?
True dual straight pipes will sound louder and more throaty than Y-piped straight pipes.
x2, much much better than a single Y pipe system.
