The Gotts O2 mod with pics

Removing your fronts wont set a CEL, your rears are monitored, not the fronts. But removing the fronts will not give you a major sound increase such as removing the rears does. Remove the rears, then do this O2 mod if you get a CEL, which is possible, and definitely will happen if you have the sensors mounted in the cats ( Cali emissions / LEV models )

However I found some "adapters" on eBay and I think they'll work since they are one piece. I'm going to take a chance and see what happens.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to add that the non-foulers wouldn't work on my truck either. The OEM O2 sensors on my '08 do have an 18mm thread like all OEM O2 sensors but the end of the sensors are a bit bigger than 9/16" so unless you drill a 5/8" hole they won't go in the non-fouler. The 5/8" hole starts to eat into the thread so unfortunately this mod won't work with non-foulers.

Good news y'all. I did this mod on my 05 f150 4.6l. I installed Pace Setter long tube headers, so now I'm running catless. I went to O'reilly's and got 1 set of tapered 18mm and 1 set of 18mm w/gasket. Drilled 1/2" hold in the tapered set and screwed them onto the gasket set. Put the o2 sensor on and screwed them in. 3 days and no CEL.

ok so since no one is answering me in my other thread i thought id try here since my question is more targeted her anyways, since my 06 only has 2 cats, i can do this mod without messing anything up right?
Because i see before that the 4 cat system the precats are needed but the rears arent, so since i only have the 2 cats, removing them wont mess up my air/fuel mix right? and also will i loose any power doing this, or gain anything?

i know im reviving an old thread but i could use the help. i have a 2005 with the 2 cat system and the 430 code is present, so i need to replace cats. want to replace them with the 94106 but apparently i have cali emissions on the truck even though its in massachusetts.
so the question is if i do the magnaflows and the CEL comes back on, will the gotts mod get rid of it?

Im getting ready to do this mod in my 2005 f150 stx, 4.2... I bought two 18" pipes and the NAPA NF's, I did the drilling into one of them, I drilled a hole into the pipes and screw them directly into them, seal it with high temp epoxy and will see tomorrow what happens...
THANKS FOR THIS OLD MOD Gotts!

Yup, It worked for me too, It was kinda hard to fit the sensor on the half inch hole but after a lot of grinding with a grinding bit on my cordless drill it finally fit, the only thing I don't like is the noise under the cab, and I think it also lost some horse power, maybe not it needs more pressure in the exhaust.
but so far 335 miles and no CEL !
Thanks to everyone that contributed on this post.
