no cats = future damage?

i have magnaflow sI/DO exhaust and frankly its not loud enough for my tastes....i was gonna get high flows but they are way to expensive so i was thinking aobut just taking off my cats adn leving the pre cats....i know its illegal and i dont really care but i did hear that taking off the cats could cause damage in the future....is this true?

No, the pre-cats are legal and will not cause any damage, I just cut mine off last week.

Pre-cats will be fine cause it still has cats under it.

No cats for a long amount of time may not be so good for the valves in the engine.

And how is $65 each for a universal 2.5" Magnaflow hi-flow cat expensive? That pretty damn cheap considering the benifits from them.

$65 each is expensive when you can have the back two cut off for roughly $40 and make that and more by selling them. And what benefits do the high flows give you?? Please tell me, the pre cats are shorter, have less catalyst, and are already 2.5", so they will flow just as well if not better than high flows but at a much lower cost. The 4.6 and 5.4 are not deep breathing big blocks, they do not require high flow cats, there are guys with 4.6 stangs that are not gaining anthing from them, they are not worth the money when the trucks have pre cats.

Very true. The benefits compared to the stock cats is better flow and sound. I dont have my rear cats out yet so I dont know just what its like and i'm not sure about how the pre-cats internal design is. Glad you cleared that information for me up though a couple weeks ago I was going to get hi-flows to replace my rears, now i'm just doing the same setup as yours, pre-cats only.

You can achieve the same sound and flow without the high flows, and make money while doing it, no brainer in my book.

god darn take it to someone else or do it yourself. all you need is to get two high flows and some clamps if you dont want to weld them in. cut out the cats and clamp the high flows in place. or just have the two rear cats gutted out.

of course their tryin to screw you!!! thats how they make money dude, yea 100 bucks is about right to cut 2 cats off my guy charged me 90, and the 50 dollar core charge idk, i would tell him i wanted them back after he cuts them off just so if you want to put them back on you can pay him like 30 bucks and put them back on, as far as throwin a code if you cut the back 2 only it souldnt since you still have the 2 pre cats

Had mine cut off for $40 and sold them for $60, so you are getting ripped. Cut mine off last week, 350 miles and no CEL on O2's with 152,xxx on them.
