I had a Gibson on my Ranger, and I loved it. I have read on these forums some people dont like them. BUT, I planned on getting one of these for my F-150...

Gibson has changed their website and I cant find the dyno sheets they had. I punched in your truck stats and 4wheelparts said $435. Good for the horsepower claim.

order up a SI/DO muffler and 2 tips. take them to an exhaust shop and have them bend pipes.

Costed me 350 doing that.

i did the same setup I have a 2.5" piping, with 4" slashed tips. SI/DO Original 40 Flowmaster costed me about $330 bucks. However, i do have a 4.6L v8

heres a clip of what it sounds like

Cheapest and best are exact opposites. The best would be magnaflow or borla. I would stay away from flowbastard, unless you like sounding like everyone else. I love my magnaflow, and for $170 i got a tru-x and 2 14" magnapacks. They are stainless and will outlast a flowmaster, plus have a lifetime warranty. I had flowmasters at one time, and it was just such a common sound they got old. You can get a stainless si/do maggie for less than a flowmaster, and 10x better quality. I paid around $240 for the flowmaster setup, out the back 45'd with 4" tips, so $300+ is excessive IMO. Performancepeddler.com has the best deal on magnaflow around, check them out and my vids are below.

My friend has a chevy 5.3, i have the 5.4 3v, both with flowmaster mufflers, and they sound completely different. The Ford modular motors sound quite different from other V8s.

To be honest, true duas arent really going to give you a huge advantage unless your engine is highly modified. Otherwise you are just moving power higher into the RPM band.

I personally think flowmasters sound better than straight throughs, and ive had the Roush Offroad previously (although everyone has their own opinion, you may think differently). To me the better sound is worth a 1-2 hp/trq difference on the dyno. I couldnt "feel" any power different between the flowmaster or Roush Offroad, but a dyno may show a small difference.

Here is my truck accelerating uphill @ 4000 ft elevation:

I would get a 14" body Magnaflow muffler, have the shop bent tailpipes and add 3.5" - 4" tips.

Well that question has a lot of different answers. The cheapest would be a Y pipe no mufflers out the back. The best, well that all depends on what you like, if you want it loud, deep, aggressive and not raspy then, straights or a dynomax bullet. If you want it deep and smooth but not as loud then Maggy is the way to go. If you like raspy and loud then a flowmaster 40 is for you, if you like that sound but want it even louder then the flowmaster 10 series is a good choice also.( keep in mind the cherrybomb extreme (formaly Imco extreme) is the same as the 10 series and cheaper)

Right. Its cheaper in every aspect. Its cost is very low, its quality is also very low. Those rust out in a snap and the baffle inside is designed very ridiculious. I would avoid anything Cherrybomb.

I had the Imco for about a year and a half, all I did was paint it will some high temp paint and then welded it up. I didn't have any problems with rust, after I cut it off there was no rust anywhere. I gave it to my friends little brother who is still running it on his truck 2.5 years later. This person is obviously concerned with price, so I told him how to get the same sound for about half the price. I do agree that the Flowmaster is constructed better, but with the way most people change their exhaust the cherrybomb will probably last as long as needed. If it last 3 years you could buy another one and still be as cheap as going with the flowmaster 6 years from now.

Well of course different make of engines will sound different, the firing order determines the sound, but there are thousands of F150s on the road with flowmasters, everywhere I go they sound the same, but that is a personal preference. I have had both, and can say the magnaflows outperform my flowmasters, and the sound is amazing to my ears. Flowmasters have become the "universal redneck muffler", everyone has or has had one at sometime no matter what they drive. They sound good, but don't perform good, period. Step up, by a cheaper, much higher quality muffler and see if you don't love the sound.

Not a huge maggy fan but I couldn't agree more. Everyone and their dog around here has 40 series flows out the back. My Imco was dumped so it sounded a little different, but I ended up cutting it off because I was sick of sounding like the truck setting next to me.
