long tube question

long tube question

newbie here. i was just wondering if you need to have true duals to have long tube headers or if its just preferred? i have a 2002 f150 5.4 and i am going to do dual exhaust and wanted long tubes. any help would be appreciated.

You dont have to have true duals after the header+Cat the driver side pipe comes over and can connect in an X-pipe or a Y-pipe like stock. True duals is alot less piping unless your going all the way to the back. If you have a Y-pipe you have the 2 pipes going into one and only having to run one pipe out the back. Most guys on here recommend an X-pipe over a Y-pipe. But its up to you. i have true duals dumped right after the mufflers so i didnt have to mess with more piping. Yeah it drones a lil but ive learned to live with it. Good luck

You dont need true duals for LTs, but it would sound much better.

I have longtubes + cats + y pipe + exhaust and it sounds and feels great

thanks for the help guys. i'll start asking for help on this site for now on. i use to use that fordf150.net and almost noone could help anyone or they would make you feel stupid sometimes.
