Since I'm the only one.....

who probably feels this way, please allow me to put a target on my head here :-) LOL

What's the big fascination with exhaust > tips < ???

>>> Well mine are triple chrome plated ! Mine are 4" ! Mine are bigger than yours ! <<< And this means ???

Personally, I don't care if they hide mine. Going with a blacked out theme, I'm just going to shoot them with high temp flat black anyway.

I'm pretty much into "all" of the other mods that are talked about on this forum, plus, I can't wait to get my true dual exhaust installed next week..... but the tips ? Who freaking cares ? Surely not me.

Okay, let the cruscifiction begin :-)

Peace,
Fish

PS, When you thought you heard me say, "I really like a nice pair of tips"...... you were slightly mistaken ;-)

The size of the tips affect the sound. The design of the tips are personal preference. I for one would not likethe blacked out tips. I would certainly hide them if they were black.

Hey Bluejay....

nice to know about the size of them affecting the sound, because the sound "is" important to me (pretty much my whole reason for getting an aftermarket exhaust system... and maybe a little bit for performance)

If I had chrome tips, they would be the only "chrome" thing on the truck ! :-)

You said you don't like black tips..... But are you also saying, you don't like blacked out vehicles ? Just curious. Of course that's only a personal preference.

Peace,
Fish

Totally blacked out, probably not. I would want a few chrome accents, such as the rims on the wheels, lug nuts, and the exhaust tips. I think ALL black would be boring. However after seeing it, I might change my mind.

Hey Bluejay....

Yea', the whole blackout thing is a personal preference, to be sure.

I always knew I liked it "on certain colors"...... But as it gets more and more popular in my area, I'm seeing it on colors I would have never expected, and I really haven't seen a color that it doesn't work with. Of course we all have our own opinions on base colors in the first place.

Peace,
Fish

Right on about the sound difference. After I had the muffler removed, I put a single inlet dual outlet tip on and HATED the sound. I went back to a single in less than a week. Exspen$ive lesson

As for color, it may as well be black to begin with because thats how they all seem to turn out later.

Hey justus....

And so you confirm the sound aspect.... Hmmm. I'd have never thought....

I knew their must be a good reason why I made this post :-)

So again, I don't even care if you can see my exhaust tips.... but I guess they still need to be of "a size" that will sound best :-)

Thanks guys,
Fish

I personally think exhaust tips give trucks a good look, along with giving it a further echoing deep tone. I loved the way my Silverado's tips looked. First truck I ever had side exit tips on, sounded great, heard it in the cab more, and it flowed very well with the rest of the trucks chrome ( wheels, nerf bars, bumpers ). They were 4x12 Magnaflow SS rolled. My F150 will be getting the same but in 18" length, and the same side exit style.

You can get your trucks exhaust dumped over axle but you may regret the rust that will happen under the bed years later. Magnaflow does make black exhaust tips too, go ahead and grab a set of those and exit them however desired. Gothed out trucks look awesome, gotta love all black.

The tips are a personal statement and set it off you can say. I could not get an exhaust without adding some chrome tips. Seems like the thing to do.

on my truck i prefer the cleaner look of having my exhaust dumped.

i just dont think big chrome tips would look good on it..

howeverrr IMO they do look good on certain trucks done a certain way haha.

and im not real worried about the rust under the bed cus i have a lead finger when it somes to rust preventative spray paint
