Hopefully there will be no difference in sound between the 18" and 12" tips.

never had a 12" tip i have the 18...justr my opinion is that there wouldnt be a huge difference. just make sure you get good SS tips so they dont look like crap after a month. have fun keepin 'em clean behind the tires there! mine are at corners of rear bumper and get dirty ALL the time! but i like the look so its worth it

There wont be much difference. Only 6"s. Smaller length tips might sound louder than longer lnegth ones due to they are shorter, but they will act the same anyways. Definitely a requirment for all exhausts.

My tips are only 12" long and 3" diameter but still put out sound. I'm yanking them off though when my roush muffler goes on. One of them is bent anyways.

Are most muffler shops carrying the Super 44? I just have the sido 40-series right now but that super 44 sounds so much better. Just wanted to know if I need to go to a performance shop to get the muffler or if this is a standard muffler at the shops now, also is it similar in size to the standard 40 series? Maybe I could by the muffler and just have them do a drop and swap??

To be honest, you wont notice much of a difference. If anything, it'll be quieter when you put it on because your 40 series is fully broken in, while your super44 will be brand new and takes time to get to its full potential.

IMO it wont be worth it. The super44 is 1 inch shorter and has fewer baffles, probably not THAT much louder than the original 40.

The Tip in this kit is a Big Bore Angle-Cut Rolled Edge 12" Long

Side question.

Why not just polish the last two feet of the exhaust? Isn't the tubing Stainless Steel? Or does going to a 3" tip instead of the 2.5" pipe make that much difference?

Ok... I had the tips installed today! 3.5"x12" 45 degree angle cut, polished stainless. You guys were absolutely right in both looks and sound. It looks much better... it does look like a finished exhaust system.

It also sounds quite a bit better. I had some of my employees listen to the truck before the install and after, so it wasn't just my ears determining a difference. The muffler shop guys also noticed the difference. It is louder, and deeper. The tips definitely resonate the sound of the exhaust noticeably. I must admit that I was a skeptic about this, but it is true.

I will post an after action video clip this weekend.

Thanks for the advice, guys!

Will

BTW, I was considering going with high flow cats but I don't think I want it any louder. I think it may be perfect as it is!

They all tell you that, I think that is like a company policy or something. My local Meineke also told me that. Find a good muffler shop that does custom stuff and will weld everything and you should be fine.
