Magnaflow was a waste

Got my Magnapack installed to day and it sounded no different . Going down unknowingly from a 2.5" to a 2.25" probably didn't help either.

Sooooo, I am going to go with a 3" SpinTech Pro-Street C/C muffler with 3" tubing from the Y-pipe back. This, for whatever reason, is the only way I and the exhaust shop can see my truck getting louder (and it really isn't all that loud. The engine makes more noise than the exhaust).

I am going to put the Maganpack up for sale on Craigslist after driving it 10 miles from the exhaust shop to home.

Ughhh.

What is a Magnapack? and what setup did you have with the Magnaflow? Im a little interested. I want my truck a little louder. Dynomax aint cuttin it for me. Ohh yeah and u wanna hear about a WASTE! I spent $400 to have a crappy shop put on my old dual out 45 degree rear exit flowmaster. They did a horrible job and less than a year later I spent another $150 on another setup which I now dont like anymore and Im going for my third setup which will run me around $300.

do you realize that maybe the 4 catalitic (sp) conveters quite it down quite a bit. Unlike chevys and mopar, ford thinks its smart to use 4 on most of their trucks. Im cutting all 4 off and replacing them with one 3in 3 out racing cat. I run a 6 banger and it should be fine.

If you really wanna kick up the db those converters gotta come out.

I dont know how loud you want but I had a magna flow on my truck too. After a few months I went to the exhaust shop, they took off my muffler and cut off the Y after the cats and ran true duals back to the existing magnaflow pipeing since its stainless and I think it sounds great and it was only like $100 for them to do it.

I agree. If you want loud just remove the mufflers and run straight pipes. If that's not loud enough, just put a turn down right behind your last cat and don't run tailpipes.

A Magnapack is the small, round mufflers. Everything is stock, except for the muffler.

I *knock on wood* have not been to a bad exhaust shop yet. That sucks though. I hope it work this time. 3rd times a charm, right!?

I don't have any cats. Haven't had them on since about the first week of owning the truck. There was only 1 on there anyways.

I talked to him about this. For true duals though would run me about $300-$375 depending.

True duals though wouldn't go on after a Y-Pipe. There would be one exhaust tube per manifold.

I have thought about it, but in the small town I live in, that may not be the best option. I have a 351W 4BBL H.O. engine. It would sound like a drag car.

If it isn't loud the next time around, I think I may do that either way and see how long I make it without a ticket.

If you want loud and it's a 351 ci why don't you go with some Super 44's? 351 ci + Super 44 would sound sweet IMO.

I have thought about Flowmaster, but I don't like the drone they have.

I got an e-mail back from SpinTech about the 3" Pro-Street muffler. I told them what it would be going on and that I wanted it loud. "a 3" pro street will be loud, sound good, but will be loud."

I guess I just need to try and find a good place to buy one from. Any suggestions?

That's weird. I hear good things about Bassani. At least you got it for free. I think I am going to give my Magnaflow to my G/F who has an 86 Bronco with a FI 5.0. Her muffler is wasted, no pun intended.

I will be calling S3M Monday morning and ordering my muffler. Now for a good before and after.

BTW, if anyone here wants a great deal on any Roush parts like exhaust and parts (great prices and free shipping on everything), go to Stage 3 Motorsports. http://www.stage3motorsports.com
Give them a call and tell them Tyler from fnsweet.com sent you!
