I don't understand the logic behind that. Waste of money IMHO.

A good clean and dry takes no longer than about 10-15mins at best and will save you $72.00 on the 2 replacements.

Wow you sound like the ol'lady the first one came on the truck and is ready for the garbage and I ordered 2 new ones ...IMHO no one can do a full filter clean in 15 mins (maybe a wipe and a blow ..the filter ) the filter takes me like 20-30 just to get to the let it sit and dry stage (witch for me is ovenite) then oil it the next day and then let it sit for like 3 hours before I intall it agian .. (I dont like watching paint dry either) I guess I'm just werid that way..

Me x2.

I think that the lack of drying time could be the problem that some members have had with their filters oiling the intake.

I always let mine dry all day on a Saturday, or at least overnight and I still take a paper towel and check it for moisture before I oil it. Then after spraying the oil, I will take another towel and remove any excess oil. I let it set over night on a towel and double check it in the morning before installing. On my 05 F150 I have 2 filters, and a stock paper filter I can swap out if necessary.

Exactly what I did. Oiled the filter at 7 this morning (after drying overnight) and will put it in in another hour or so, right before we go over the river and through the woods Did the MAF yesterday too.

I have a AF1 (got off ebay 4 years ago for $78 shipped) and a spare filter which I got for free from a member of another site just had to pay shipping. I clean/oil mine when it starts looking bad or when I get bored and think its been awhile since I last did it. (truck for the last 3 years isn't hardly driven now)

I'll clean/oil the spare filter ahead of time and swap them out. Also if you ever notice that the rubber boots or any other piece of the AF1 is bad (except for filter) they have a lifetime warranty. One I bought from ebay had a worn boot and the plastic pieces that bolts together with the filter and the MAF sensor looked like someone tightened it up too tight and warped it as I could see a small gap. They replaced all part free of charge and no questions asked!!!
