Should I dual?
I've been reading these forums for a while, but I'm just now getting into it. I'm in Iraq and factory ordered my F150 to be home when I get back to TX. I don't know the exhaust setup. Can anyone tell me what's cut off or what's added If I get duals put on. Thanks. You guys have saved me before. I'm hoping you come through again.
I would suggest any SIDO Magnaflow. A 14" or 18" is probably the most popular. They have they right amount of "loudness" and sound great. Awesome sound, more power, better MPG. Couldn't claim any of that with the Flowmaster's I had on my last truck. A SIDO is single in/dual out. Your head pipe goes into the muffler and 2 pipes come out. It's your choice to "dump" them or run them out the back with some nice chrome tips.

That still combines them before the muffler though correct? If so, how is the SIDO better than the SISO?

Check a couple of pages back under this section. It says" true duals installed "by mrshadetree0222.(Sorry I don't know how to link it). It has great pics and helped me to understand a little more. I am going to do the same things shortly. Good luck and come home safe.

Hitched, you are right, what ian51279 is describing is not a True Dual setup.
To do a true dual set up you cut the Y section of pipe that brings the left and right side exhaust gasses together and run seperate pipes all the way back to the muffler(s) (either DIDO or 2 SISOs).

Think I got it
In "true duals installed" I didn't see the downstream O2 sensors. Are those remounted? Plus, I didn't see the X-pipe. I think I'm sold on one of those.

So you want a true dual system. Why didn't you say so.
To answer your first question, nothing is gained by having a SIDO over a SISO other than one more pipe. It's preference. I prefer dual tips out the back, it looks balanced.
I can't tell you much about true duals on these trucks, as I never had any reason for them. I don't know if you gain any power, MPG, loose anything. Sorry I can't help you any further.

Sorry, Ian. Lesson for a first timer. Well all of that being said, my Muffler shop back home told me Ford will void warranties for hacking off that Y. Either that, or he just wants to sell me the cheaper SIDO. I guess it's still better than factory.

If they just void the warranty on the Y who gives a chit!!! The Y doesn't break or anything!!!
I wouldn't worry too much about voiding your warranty. The only thing you need to be careful about it adding an intake that could result in the engine running lean.
If modifying the exhaust caused problems, people wouldn't be so quick to do so.

No, not the Y. Anything else(engine possibly) going wrong would just be blamed on the exhaust and not covered. Believe me, if it were only the exhaust, I'd be fine with it.
