so it just increases airflow? dumb question but where does the other end of the pipe go? in other words, where is the air that enters your engine come from.

 

your replaceing the stock inlet with bigger ID PVC so its the same inlet from above the fender and allows more air in

i did the Gotts on my 08' 5.4L 3v, and my buddys '05 4.6L this weekend. i thought it made a difference, especially after replacing my dirty old air filter with a k&n, seems like it is breathing better, and it pulls a little harder off the line. hopefully i will get somewhat better mpg out of it. and get me on that list.

 

I had an extra silicone coupling laying around and a old intake pipe off of a Honda. I cut the pipe to lenght and here is what I came up with..

 

I live in an apt building in Baltimore, i do keep my truck in a parking garage, but its a tight fit, not a lot of room to do fabricating, any body know how long the new PVC piece that goes from the air box to the fender should be cut?? I know the 3" diameter, but the length would be seriously appreciated, since Ill probably have to cut the piece and drive to some random parking lots with a crap load of 80 grit sand paper to make it fit, haha

 

between 4-5 inches in length, I think I went with 4 1/2 and it was prefect

What about 2010 owners? The outlet is a "squarish" oblong shape. Is the extra pipe running to the fender necessary?

 

Here's my take on it. Had a piece of 3" ID aluminum tube laying around. A few minutes with the hacksaw and:



Installed:



There are four little square centering tabs in the fender well grommet. One I trimmed those off I was able to reuse it.
