Finally completed Gotts mod today on my '07 3V 5.4L. It was really cheap, easy, and there seems to be a nice improvement in throttle response. Thanks guys!

I used 3" sewer line instead of PVC, because the pipe wall is thinner. I didn't have to do any sanding or filing, and the pipe fits perfectly snug in fender hole.

Before (stock)


Remove stock snorkel (I just pried it off with a flat head screwdriver)


Use 4" to 3" connector for coupling of the existing intake housing and the new Gotts intake pipe




Cut about 16 inch length of 3" Sewer line to replace stock snorkel. I cut it long enough to fit far enough in to be firm, but short enough as to not cover the small holes in the bottom of the intake housing. You can see that the pipe wall is a lot thinner than standard PVC.


Painted sewer line and inserted into fender well. Little effort to slide in,yet snug enough to stay with no sanding or filing


Reconnect assembly to new intake pipe at the coupler and done. Completed Gotts Intake mod. (Don't forget to disconnect the negative battery cable for at least 10 minutes to reset ECM)




And for a special bonus, I replaced my air filter with a new Amsoil to maximize performance increase from my new mod.

I did mine a month or so ago with the DVM pipe and downspout coupler method. I didn't like the way the rubber coupler only went an inch our so into the fenderwall. I replaced it yesterday with just the 3" DVM pipe that I had left over. Had to spend about 45 minutes grinding and sanding to get the pipe to fit, but now it goes a good 2-1/2" into the fenderwall. Seems to have a slightly better throttle response, but I also cleaned out my throttle body at the same time, so that could have also helped.

Didnt remove the silencer but noticed better pick up only changing the snorkel to the 3 inch pipe. Will see how goes my MPG.

Alright so basically I followed eghead's instructions and pictures, just got done doing mine, spent $15 for everything...took about an hour. I am about to go to my hunting camp tomorrow so we will see how my MPG goes....just to make sure I disconnected the negative side of the battery for about 20 min.....was that enough amount of time to reset the ECU?

i need a check list before i go to lowes! anybody help me out? lol i wanna get all the parts the first time because its about a 20 minute drive one way so i want to get it all the first time. its a 2004 4.6L. it has the cone style air cleaner if that helps. so its not the straight tube looking one, it has the big area for the air cleaner
