S&B Intake (lots of pics)

First off id like to thank knuckleuppunk for all the great info he has provided in other intake threads. Now, I installed the S&B perfomance intake a while back, and I must say WOW!! This thing is amazing!! The quality of all the components is great, not a rough edge at all. You can really tell they put alot of time and effort into this system. The install went flawlessly w/ one exception (the siren for my alarm had to move, and i had pretty much no where to go with it). The enclosure is great, this filter is totaly enclosed, It even has a fitting so the air from the fender comes straight into the box (plus the opening for the air from under the headlight). The instructions are absolutely top notch w/ color photos and captions that go into great detail, there is also a schematic showing everything in the order it goes on. This intake is like nothing else i have seen on the market, the intake tube is completely different, the enclosure is completely different, as well as the filter. I left the truck in the stock mode (edge) and went for a drive after install and it was very quite, even at WOT it still remained very subtle but still had a nice growl too it. My exhaust is definately louder, there is no question to that:at idle, very little throttle, and wide open throttle its sounds great all around now. On the way back to school I did notice my intake temps are about 3 degrees above the outside temperature now (highway). On top of that i noticed my mileage went from 13.5 to 14.0-14.5 on the way there. Granted that might change when i go back to lvl 3 on the edge, but i doubt it. I do mostly highway driving so it looks very promising, Ill do some city this weekend and report back for you guys. Acceleration is much better also, much more responsive. I couldnt be happier that i sent back the k&n (too loud) and held off on the volant. I would highly recommend this intake to anyone and everyone. The pictures are of the install and the finished product, but if you guys want anymore pics or info let me know!!

Nice pictures and post. I was gonna get on to you about the dust and dirt under your hood, but I see you are in west Texas, so you get some slack.

This is the only problem I had, it was my alarm siren. PIA had to be moved twice. .
[IMG][/IMG]

I have had this intake in for about 2 weeks now and have had absolutely no problems. The performance is outstanding!! We have been getting a lot of snow and ice plus some rain, and everytime i look under that hood this box is covered with lots of water spots, so im very thankful I decided to go with the enclosed design. As for city driving my mileage stayed about the same at around 12.5-13.5 mpg, and the temperatures are running about 6-10 degrees above the outside temp. but its still pretty cool here. This really is an awesome intake, great performance, protection, and sound! As for my previous thread, I had it deleted due to all the group buy confusion. I only wanted to see how much interest there was in the possibility. There is not a group buy at this time, if/or when one should come available Steve will have to approve it. It seems like most of you guys are just buying them on your own though, and I also see that troyer is doing a dyno test so that should be interesting also.

Thanks guys!

S&B lists it as the "performance intake", other places may have it as just "cold air" im not sure.

I wouldnt worry to much about their review. If you want your engine protected, while still getting great performance from your intake S&B is the way to go, you wont regret it. I dont look to much at dyno results personally, but its up to you!
