Great news!!!!
Great news!!!!
Tomorrow at 10 AM, the truck is being dropped off to have a new off road Y-pipe fabbed up and installed. Then, the old cats will be cut in half, and their shells welded back on so it will pass the visual inspection. I can't wait.
What are the best 02 sims to get?

Update: Cats are hollowed out, no CEL is on, all o2 sensors from the factory are still installed. Power is GREAAAAAAAT!!!! I love it. It revs so much faster now, and acceleration is much better. Gas mileage has also improved. There is a *slight* exhaust leak that I need to take it back and get fixed, but other than that it sounds great and the power is awesome!

NICE!!!
It sounds GREAT, except for a small exhaust leak that I'm going to get fixed tomorrow. The CEL light has came on, but nothing I couldn't clear with my Edge Evo in 30 seconds.
does it pop alot more? like when you rev it? I gutted my precats, and it already pops too much for my taste, so im gonna have to go back through and weld a pipe inside the cat housing, so they will act more like a straight flow through pipe instead of having the housing, holding back pressure and what not.
also how do you like your edge on your truck? Is it as full functioning as they are on the 04+?

My Edge does everything the 04+ does except for Transmission temp gauge. And as for the popping, I haven't noticed anything weird. I love the sound so far.

So what exaust are you running anyways zaair?
I might just try an edge if I get anything extra from my tax return.
Pat, my stock exhaust was on the truck for two weeks before I ditched it for a Flowmaster 40 Series SI/DO. So, it already has its pops and crackles that come with the FM. Ditching the cats made it louder, and seemed to give me much more power. Also, my MPG has gone WAAAY up. I was getting 14.3MPG highway running 80 MPH on 93 octane winter fuel. I just got 16MPG running the same trip, same fuel (Mobil 93 octane) with a little more in town driving. I have NEVER gotten that good of mileage before. The trip consisted of 115 highway miles, running 75 - 80, and 80 around town mix driving. Also, about 40 of those in town miles were in the snow.

so based on your experience, would you recomend the edge?

They're not too bad, usually I'm getting up on it around town. And yes, I'd recommend the Edge.
yep

Zaairman, get a set of mil eliminators off ebay. They splice into your rear O2 sensors, and they send the appropriate signal that indicates a working cat. The guy named "bestmileliminators" on ebay sold me the 1 wire kind, and they didn't work, so I sent them back, and he sent me the 2 wire ones, and they worked great. He later told me that he tested the ones I sent back, and they were bad. So you might get away with them. But the 2 wire kind are a simple r/c circuit, and they should last the life of the vehicle. I have had mine almost a year now, and they still work fine. I have the guy's contact info in case you don't want to deal with ebay.
Did you just gut the cats, and not the pre-cats? For somebody who is doing this at home: how long will it take, and how difficult will it be to do? Any particular process in gutting the cats?
