Longtube Headers Install
I just ordered a set of Longtube headers for my 1999. I have the 5.4L Vin(L)
2wd. Anyone ever done a Longtube install? Any tech articles, advice, pictures, etc??

I havent done a set on an F150, but i know its gonna be a pain. Did you get 02 simulators? and maybe 02 extentions?
There are a hand full of guys that have LT headers. What brand did you buy and what kinda deal did you find?

Thanks for the links guys. I am hoping its not gonna be to much of a pain. I noticed the motor was a lil different than mine...So Im gonna take alot of pics, so maybe another how-to article can be created for the 99 2wd.

Not to bad at all, i have a 4x4. From the time i got under neith the truck till I was done, it took right at 2 hours. I had gibson shorties on there before my long tubes, and I still gained 30hp and 35ftlbs on the dyno, so you will be happy! I really didnt have any trouble, just the egr tube gave me a problem, so i ended up plugging it.

I was noticing on your mod list that you have a set of cams installed...whats the spec # on them? Did u have to install lifters also?? What were the gains? Did it change the exhaust sound any?

well the cams were installed with the PI heads, the cams are #102500, the exhaust sound got a lot louder, and i dont know how much the cams gave me, but together, the heads and cams gained me right at 100hp up top. here is the before and after chart:

I wouldnt say louder, but a much more powerful sound. You can hear each cylinder firing more clearly. The sound is just so much better, the gibson shorties i had gave me no sound difference.
