question for built54

Since you have a nice list of mods i wanted to ask you a question. Are MAC products pretty reputable? I just bought a set of ceramic shorty MAC headers and awaiting thier arrival. The guy also wants to sell me a MAC throttle body for 170 shipped and a MAC air intake system for 185 shipped. I origainlly wanted a K&N set up but will i notice alot of difference? IM also ordering a flowmaster super 40 series with all pre bent pips for my truck.I figure i will spend about 1000 in mods and i hope thats all and will be happy with sound and performance. My main issuse was i bought a rather large 30 foot travel trailer and wanted some extra breathing and power. I also switched to all amsoil synthetic motor oil, tanny fluid, front and rear differential fluid.I just wanted your opinion on things since im bascially a newb and a first time f-150 owner. Thanks Anyone else can reply i will take any contructive criticism and input.

Well those sound like decent deals, but I would go with a bbk 75mm throttle body. Also, get a sealed filter kit. Im not sure if mac is or not, but sealed would be better. Flowmasters do sound good, but they have been proven to cost you some power insted of gain. Go with a good muffler like a magnaflow kit. I had the 30 series mufflers from flowmaster on my truck, and about a month ago I switched them out with some by Spintech, and the sound is almost the same, but a little deeper, and I could tell quite a difference in power down low. Check the classifieds, im trying to sell a magnaflow kit.

Hey Built, I got a couple of questions for you. I just put on a pair of dynatech longtubes today and when I went to the muffler shop, they told me that they couldnt fit my magnaflow high flow cats on because the longtubes went back too far. I have a true dual running to the 40 series flowmasters. The cats arent straight, they kinda have a bend in them so it wouldnt work. So I kept them off for now. How did you get yours on their with the longtubes? I thought it would sound bad with them off but, it's not that bad...just a tad bit louder than i prefer on acceleration. The dynatechs made it sound alot more stronger...more aggresive! I love it......I just think it would be better to put the cats back on. Also, do you still have your Maggies for sell?

who makes a good long tube header, and what site sells them? Also with a stock engine would long tubes with an x pipe with dumped mufflers hurt my power? I remember reading on here a while back that on a stock engine those mod's can acctually hinder a stock engine instead of help.

I put mine about 3" back from the header, then a 90* bend connected the pipe right back where it should be no problem

Nope, fuel injected. Stock internals, just a few bolt-ons.

I went with the pacesetters on mine. SO far know problems. Best bang for the buck, my .02. as for the hindering of power, everything i have added has helped performance. Nothing seemede to stunt it. But it could be better. I am getting a custom tune and hp #'s in the next month or so. So we will see what the add-ons have done.

Don't worry about gettin me those pictures built. I went to another muffler shop and they squeezed my cats in between the o2 sensors. The first muffler shop probably didn't want to do it because they already might have been pissed because they only charged me 160 to install the dynatechs! I called them and asked how much they would charge....cuz i was gonna do it this weekend but.....when he said 160 I was like wtf....I told him I was hand carrying them in and they had to bolt them up but...he said ok. 9 hours later I picked up my truck.......they said the cats wouldn't fit but, I'm sure they were just tired The cats make a huge difference in interior sound. Without the cats there was to much cabin drone. Now it sounds clean and runs good?

As far as I know, the cams are stock. I had the motor put in when I bought the truck. Not sure what the numbers are on the motor. Ater i put the motor in, I raced another truck, same year model, motor...Identical except it was black. And I beat it ...BAD!!, HAnds down! ....SO im not real sure on the motor.

The truck will be gettting dynotuned in late january, early feburary. Im curious to see the numbers it puts down.

With the inconsistant Idle I hear at the beginning of that video, I'm almost certain that there is cam's installed in that motor! LT headers and bolt on's generally won't produce that sound.
