AF1 Installed

Installed my AF1 I got from Troyer. Easy Install no problems. Sliced open a rubber tube to prevent the tube from being scratched. Couldn't get a clear picture of it. Did not get the tuner because of money issues

Looks nice, I like the blue filter. I hear you on the money issues, I think I'm just gonna save up till I can get the intake, exhaust, and tuner all at once.

How loud is the AF1 inside the truck at normal driving speeds? I have heard there were droning issues with some of the other intake kits when driving on the highway, but I have not heard comments about this one.

How difficult was it to install? Also, what do you mean that you had to slice open a rubber tube to keep from scratching it?

Thanks,

KR-Texas

PS. It does look very nice...

Looks good. I was going to get a Volant because I can get them at a really good price but I have heard a lot of good things about the AF1. I might go for the AF1 now.

I just installed my 3.25 a couple of days ago and I agree, it was fairly easy. Biggest problem I had was threading the 7/16" bolt in to the bottom of the tube. I have not heard any noise from it except when I 'romp' on it and then it sounds like all other low restriction intakes.

agreed about easy install. 1 hour at most. and threading that bolt was annoying. I don't hear it with the windows up and the radio on. With the windows down you can hear it. It definitley does not replace or come close to replicating the toneof an exaust. I have not let it loose on a highway yet. I got the 3" because I was told the 3.25 would require the tuner. As for the rubber tubing... The pipe rests on a bracket. I cut some rubber and stuck it on the bracket as to not scratch it

Hey Rogerf,
That bolt on the bottom was the only things that slowed up my 30 minute install but leave things loose to allow for alignment and things should be really smooth !

I like it. But I don't have anything to compare it to. My 250 was stock on performance just cosmetic mods. I notice the difference at higher RPM's, as I took it out at lunch today. There may be more experience members to let you know more.

Af!

I just sent an e-mail to Troyer suggesting they contact the manufacturer of the AF1 and modify their instructions. When I installed mine I had a rubber washer left over and there was no mention or illustration in the instructions explaining it. I called Troyer and they had to open up one of the kits to see what I was talking about and then found someone in their organization that was familar with the rubber washer and its intended use.

I ended up threading that 7/16" bolt twice, the second time to include the insulating washer.

RogerF,

I guess I missed the reference to the extra washer the first time around. After having the same question about mine, I should have reread your post...
