Flowmaster

I agree with the comments about Flowmaster. I have a 40 Series, Standard, which is the most aggressive sounding of the 40 series. I am on my second muffler in five years on this truck. I live in Indianapolis, where salt is the rule for winter. I have a 2000 4X4 Lariat with 5.4L

I don't really think you can beat the sound of a Flowmaster. The price is also very agreeable. I had 3inch taipipes on mine originally. When I had the new muffler installed, I replaced the pipes with 2 1/2 inch. I really don't notice any difference in performance, MPG, or sound.

i sya you do this.....go to www.rollingbigpower.com and buy their muffler for our truck.....its not listed on there site yet but they have it. RBP is known for GREAT diesel performance in torque horsepwoer and gas mileage as a whole!

Not to bad....95 for a 14" muffler and 105 for a 18" muffler. When i get the money i may do true duals using their mufflers
o and their muffler is louder than the magnaflow but not as loud as a flowmaster....just perfect

Most people around here go with the Flowmaster if you want it loudest and Magnaflow if you want it louder compared to stock. Both seem to be very good systems. If would fork over the money for the stainless. I have rusted out two mufflers in about 5 years, both from the inside out, both were aluminized steel. Once I get my rear end issue sorted out, I'm going to install the Magnaflow SI/SO. Mike Troyer has it for my truck around $500 bucks. I was looking at the Gibson since I like the dual exit out one side, but the Magnaflow is all 304SS and the Gibson is a mix of 304 muffler and tip with 409 tubing. Magnaflow also publishes dyno charts on the web site for a lot of the exhaust systems they make. I have not seen any other companies showing their results. A lot of companies talk about increased HP and torque, but the proof is in the dyno!

Just got my new Stainless Magnaflow #15861 SISO exhaust from:

http://www.hottexhaust.com/Index2.htm

They were so helpful and had the best prices of any supplier on the web, they saved me almost $100.00 when compared to some of the more popular suppliers out there. They had the exhaust kit in stock and shipped it the same day FREE.

Ask for John, For the BEST customer service, He even applied coupons that I didn't have to help save me more money. ( Un-heard of !!!)

Also, Got an Airforce One from:

http://www.truckxpressions.com/index.html

They price match and have free shipping, so I saved another $10.00 + shipping.

Got everything on and it sounds great!! Noticeable power increase, and have dropped some RPM's as well.

Tuner, E-fans and pulleys are next.

Just though I'd share my good experience with the above suppliers.

Yep, got the best deal I could find from them using the coupon code "fordtruck8".

John was great to deal with. They answered ever email I sent them about different tips very quickly. Most of the time within 15 minutes. Can't beat that customer service!

i disagree with every one here it looks like...

Like i said i have to disagree with everyone, but for me I'm dynomax all the way. Although on a mustang i bulit recently i did use edelbrock's rpm series mufflers very nice not sure the power gain over stock as it was a heavily modded engine from the get go, but they sounded geat. My biggest pet peave on exhausts is something that is super loud all the time, thats why i go with the dynomax, loud when put the hammer down and as you back out of it, they settle down a bit had a set of the super turbos on a ramcharger back in the day with headers sounded pretty sweet, my musatng daily driver has dynimax's ultra flo stainless steel with a set of bbk's shorty headers and off road x-pipe as emmissions isnt a problem in tennessee...

I have been looking at the banks exhuast becuase it is a good price and it is still a clean look almost stock. I think that it will help with performance too. Banks makes alot of things for big horse power and for mpg. I have a F-250 7.3 1999 and it has the full banks kit for the turbo and programer. I got alittle over 250 horse and 400 torgue extra with adding this kit. I also am getting 24 mpg with the programer. The exhaust on my F-250 is 4 inch and the exhaust for the F-150 is a 3 inch so you should like it.

I agree that the Banks stuff is nice. It's very nice.

But I don't agree about the good price. It's a good bit more compared to other systems. Except Corsa maybe.

From what I understand, Magnaflow is a mix of different SS... The muffler and the tips are the only 304 on the system the pipes are 409S, if I am not mistaken... Later....

This is one of the more refreshing forum items. Everyone seems to have a lot of varying opinions of what exhaust system they like. The magnaflow, flowmaster, and borla seem to be the most used and they have been in business a long time. Several muffler systems have been mentioned that I have never heard of before.

Personally, I prefer the Aero Turbine Catback system. It has given me substantial low end power (pickup from stop is knowingly quicker now, low end torque is noticable (I tow a 25' Jayco Travel Trailer) and there is lots of power at cruising speed. Mileage, in combination with my aFe full intake system has increased 2.5 mph. I have a SI/SO and it sounds awsome, like duals. Check out their web site!

The Aero Turbine Catback system has been somewhat demonized by some on this forum, in that, it is said the manufacturer muffler claims violate the laws of physics. This is just not true, "From Cross: Socal is correct that when you slow down the velocity of a gas flow the pressure will increase assuming temperature remains constant. The way I read the claims on the website is that this airfoil cone and expansion inside the muffler will decrease the pressure at the inlet of the muffler. This doesn't violate the laws of physics since they are making the claims at the inlet where the gas has not slowed down not inside the muffler itself where the gasses have expanded, velocity has slowed, and pressures have increased."

Check all of the systems out before you choose. I suspect that with a 3" stainless pipe and any of these systems, they are basically all about the same. Some with a little more performance and some with a little less. But I am extremely satisfied with the Aero Turbine, it has made a difference in the performance of my truck.

Good luck on your choice. Mert

Not bashing you here, as you are only quoting something that was posted on another thread. What is being said in this pararaph is that they are using a play on words in their advertising, and that it is marketing hype. Gotta be careful what you read.

Jeeps & Fords:

The intention of the thread comment is to discuss the variety of muffler systems (I have never heard of some of these brands, but who am I to say they don't have merit?). It is apparent from the long past thread that you place no value on the product I have chosen and the point I made that I am very happy with the performance (It works for me!).

I can tell that you are never going to accept the point that I make. That is ok, it is your opinion. Go with the flow and help this person out. He will value your opinion and with the overall knowledge he gains - his decision will encompass research and his overall choice.

You and I need to bury the hatchet and move on -- Agreed?

Mert

Don't do it man...go with a custom setup flowmaster system...go to your local muffler shop and get them to order the flowmaster 40 series and custom bend you some pipes EXACTLY the way YOU want them...don't settle for the banks system unless you really love it...and if you do, enjoy my friend...

Good luck..._motes
