Magaflow++++Rusted Out

Ordered one online and had the local shop install a Magaflow ( muffler only ) on my 03 SuperCrew about 1 1/2 years ago.

Both seams on the inlet & outlet have rusted away leaving the muffler sliding back & forth a inch or so, had the local shop weld a bead around both ends to seal it back up .

I thought I was BUYING a Nice Muffler ( MAGAFLOW ) , WHAT GIVES!!!

If I read correctly, the welds rusted out (on the pipes), that's not magnaflow's fault. Is the muffler a stainless model?

1.5 years is unacceptable. If the installers welds broke, they should re-do it. I've never known anyone with an exhaust shop system that didn't have it rust out on them, either the welds or pipes, but it usually takes 4-5 years.

What exactly rusted, the old weld from the muffler to the pipes or the muffler itself? One is the installers problem vs. magnaflow's problem. If the later, it should be covered under Maggie's lifetime warranty. Do you have the aluminized muffler or stainless steel?

He is talking about the factory seam from what I read. Quality craftsmanship sounds like to me. But then, I don't want to start another go off the deep end thread. Try flowmaster

...but you just did. I've read hundreds of threads of baffle mufflers rattleing from the baffles coming loose, yet just this one Maggie issue that I'm not sure is even a problem with the muffler. Good odds with that blowmaster?

I have never had a single flowmaster go bad, and I have had about 20 of them.

And if I paid for the "magnaflow" so wonderostrous muffler, damn right I'd be flaming about how it took a **** in a year

blah blah blah .... :/ seriously what is your beef with MagnaFlow? All you do is bash away and talk like Moses brought FLowmaster to the world from the Ark...

You are always jumping to conclusions without any real information other than what "YOU" read.

Honestly if you have bought 20 mufflers from Flowmaster you must have changing them out what every year since you were 16???

MagnaFlow is not the greatest thing since sliced bread but really the Eleventh Commandment is NOT "thou shalt buy Flowmaster! "

ANYWAYS to address the issue ..the stainless mufflers all have a lifetime warranty of youhave any issues .. I woudl call them or your distributor.

here is the deal:
1) if you didn't get stainless, and its the muffler that rusted, you screwed up.
2) If you did get stainless and its the muffler that rusted, magnaflow scrwed up and you are covered.
3) is its not the muffler that rusted, but where your shop welded it, they screwed up and should fix it.

Its not that I have beef with magnaflow. I have stated multiple times that I have magnaflow cats. My problem is, when trying to help someone make an educcated decision based on price, performance, and all factors, the only things that the "senior" members on here can saw is "blowmaster" and magnaflow is 100x better than blowmaster. Well, whats the difference in you defending your magnaflow and me defending my flowmaster?

The answer is nothing, other than you all wanted (no offense to those not involved, you all is a generalized term) to jump on me like a pack of banshee's on a fresh kill. I personally say the eleventh is maganaflow can lick mine, but if you want it go get it. I vehemently defended what I know to be true. I say potato, you say potatoe. The difference is opinion, and I am willing to defend mine just as you are yours.

And I have had 5 jeeps, 5 mustangs, 2 F-150's and my navigator. That alone is worth 24 flowmasters, considering they are all v8's. But a couple of the jeeps didn't get them since they already had glasspacks

Choices are good. Most of us like hearing real world experiences from all sides. The good and the not so good.

Not to mention that most of us who mainly just read this stuff are smart enough to seperate the players on the field from those who's jerseys never get dirty.

Great. So how many Magnaflows have you owned?

The answer is that no Flowmaster system on an F-150 (custom or American Force II) has shown more power on a dyno than the Magnaflow systems. Any other vehicle doesn't matter (even Mustangs w/ the same block becuase the heads, cams are different). If someone wants to save money and go custom, they can use whatever muffler they chose. It will be a crap shoot on how the changes affect performance. For the price difference between the AF-II and Maggie system, I'd rather have the extra performance and 100% stainless steel.

The only time I recommend Flowmaster mufflers (and I have), is because they have a distinct sound that some people realy want and they don't care about performance.

Really. Then I think it would be wise to keep the Magnaflow bashing to a minimum considering your very limited experience with them.

I've owned a few of both and the ONLY thing I run a Flowmaster on is my Jeep. I could tell it cost me some power in the lower RPMs, but the baffles make it less likely to get crushed while rock crawling.
