I found that an 18" 1/2" drive breaker bar with a deep well socket was the only way I could the old clamp bolt loose from mine.

I haven't gotten mine yet, was hoping it would get here sometime today, though. The SIDO is 3" from the cat to the muffler, right? The current short piece of pipe that the new system attaches to (right behind the y-pipe) isn't 3" is it? How does that connection work? Does the new exhasut have some sort of reducer than slips onto the existing pipe?

There is a piece of 3" pipe that connects just after the cat and it has a reducer to connect to the stock 2.5" coming off the cat.

I ordered mine Wednesday night. Their website says that it takes 24 hours to process the order, then 3 business days to ship from Cali to your door. So, if mine was processed by Thursday, and shipped out Friday, it should be here tomorrow (Wednesday) since Monday was a holiday. The only part that concerns me is mounting the hangers for the two tailpipes. I printed out some pictures from Mganflow's website of the install, and it has a close-up of where the hanger bolts to the frame. I looked under my truck and didn't see a hole there, so that may be an issue. I guess I will have to wait and see. If it is not here tomorrow I'll give them a call and see whats up.

By the way, I think I read somewhere that because of the value of the item, you are required to sign for it. If you're not home, they'll leave a note for you to pick it up at the local distribution center. I usually use UPS on things like this and have never had to sign before-they have always left it on the porch. I think hottexhaust uses Fed-Ex, though. I'm not sure about them. All I know is what I've read on here.

I called up the good folks at hottexhaust today to ask for a tracking number on the exhaust I ordered. I was told that they "failed to process the order immediately" and that it "would ship out today." What a load of crap! I ordered that thing one week ago today and they just shipped it out today.

I have a feeling they never realized I had placed the order and shipped it out right after I called.

Oh well. It should be here by Friday...

Guys - just wanted to check back in here - mine did arrive last Friday evening - right b4 the Holiday and I immediately set to work getting it installed. My stock exhaust unbolted OK and after a bit of "twisting" the pipes all came apart. It was a BEAR getting the stock exhaust out from under the frame though (I didn't have a lift and didn't want to cut it just in case) - but finally with enough twisting and turning - I was able to pull it forward, clear the top of the rear axle housing (watch out that the stock exhaust hanger bracket does not get hung on the brake lines that run along the top side of the axle housing) and get it out the driver's side of the truck.

Then the Magna flow system lined up Ok - but the bolt for the 3" clamp was too big - had splines that would not allow me to tighten it down far enough (the nut ran out of threads B4 it was tight) resulting in a 1/16" gap around the front muffler connection. I had enough by then and just caught one of my local muffler shops (Chips in Simi Valley, CA) and he was nice enough to hang around late on a Holiday weekend so I could limp in and have him weld the front connection. He also had to weld the rear hangers to the frame since the stock tow hitch uses the holes for it's mounting. Tailpipes fit fine and the system does clear the spare tire and hitch assembly OK.

Notes: 1) be sure and zip tie the driver's side brake line, diff housing vent tube and, electrical wires away from the exhaust pipe where it goes over the rear axle/diff housing on that side or it could melt the lines. Look under there and you will see them just hanging there - be sure not to zip them too tight or in the way of the suspension travel...
2) look above the driver's side exhaust where it goes over the rear axle housing and you will see where a platic "tab" hangs down from the bottom of (I'm guessing the charcoal filter assembly?).....I didn't see it until I smelled melting plastic and it was pretty much melted off - did not appear to be used for anything though.
3) If you have the factory tow hitch assembly - there will be no holes - so you WILL have to have the rear most hangers welded to the frame. Chip was able to utilize the rearmost (passenger side) stock hanger and not have to weld the Magnaflow supplied hanger on the passenger side.

This kit is not quite truly a "bolt on" and it is a bit of a challenge changing it out solo in the driveway - but you should be able to get it mostly installed then ease down to your local muffler shop and have them weld the tailpipes and tip in place. It was worth the effort as it look FANTASATIC coming out the rear under the bumper and the sound is just right for me - no drone - and fairly quiet a freeway speeds - but when at WOT it sounds healthy!!

I know "this thread is worthless w/o pics" I'll get some this weekend as I want to show all several other mods I have done as well!

Werll, I got mine in today, but can't get the front pipe loose. I got the clamp loose, and the pipe is even loose, but won't budge. I can twist it a little(the locating pin prevents full rotation) but it won't come off! I have been beating on the muffler trying to get it free to the point that the rear of the muffler is caved in. What can I do to get it off?

Wow if it turns a little you should be able to wiggle it out of there! Are all of your hangers disconnected? It would be a bear if one of the hangers was still connected.

Well. I finally got it off after enough "persuasion."

Got the system on and all is good. Everything lines up nice and looks great. The sound is also very good. It has a nice tone but I would say it is very quiet. It is barely detectable if you are at a steady speed. ie freeway or cruising speed. My last truck was much, much louder inside but that got old quick. All in all I am very pleased. Hope you guys get your soon.

Hotlap, just wanted to let you know, I have the same kit with the factory tow hitch and spare. I had no problems bolting it up in the garage and needed no welding. For the hangers that go through the hitch holes, I just removed the hitch bolt and installed the hangers through the holes and bolted it tight. I don't have a real good pic of underneath showing it, but here's what I have.

Click here for the final result

Either way you installed it, its a great system! Enjoy It! I just got some replacement tips with rolled edges. Makes them stand out a little more and I like the rolled slant look, they also go back much further than the ones that come with the kit, almost to the bend.

Magnaflow 35115 - 22" long
