40 Series flomaster Installed

Whats up guys. I just had a 40 series flomaster muffler put on my truck and i love it but my dad thinks otherwise. He says that because i didnt have the tip come out behind the rear tire that it wont pass smog in cali and that it puts fumes in the cab. I have the tip drop right after the muffler. I heard that it will pass smog and i dont think it will be dangerous since it still drops down, i dont know though. Also it pops a little when its cold, i think its just that because its cold but my dad says because it doesnt have a longer tip on it. I think hes crazy but i dont know that much about exhaust systems.

Yes you will pass smog, as you are not required to have a tailpipe after the muffler, but a muffler is required in CA.

As for fumes in the cab, doubt it, I had my exhaust dumped like you do on my old truck and never noticed a problem with fumes.

You'll pass just fine. I have the same muffler dumped before the rear axle like yours. There won't be any fumes. Guys have been using dumps on cars and trucks as long as there was exhaust! Furthermore, there's plenty of room between the truck and the ground so the fumes can't collect under there anyway! Popping with a Flowmaster is normal. My old truck and my current 2005 F150 both do it when you rev it up and it winds down. Speaking of which, what engine/configuration you got on that truck?

since when do they do an e-test in a cab you shouldn't have any problems with any e-test. i believe the flowmasters are approved for sale in California anyways, are they not?

Awesome truck man. I noticed after about a month the exhaust got quite a bit louder, so you've got something to look forward to (if you like that sort of thing). I assume you do since your 40 is dumped like mine!
