whats the diff between the delta flow and the super 40?

wlf, you have changed my mind about the magnaflow... i had a flowmaster on my last truck, a magnaflow on my current one, and the magnaflow just isnt loud enough. i miss the mean sound from my old 4.6 , so i think i am going to the flows again.

I have dual 40 series on my 5.4L '04 and it really isn't very loud either. At 70mph on the highway I can't hear it at all!

Spaceman,
The problem with muffler selection is it's so personal. What I may like others may not. It has taken several efforts to get this right for me.
The Super 40 does have the Delta Flow technology but the case is larger then the regular 40 to allow for more flow. The difference between my old non-delta 40 and this one is the Super 40 quiets down nicely at 55mph. I like it being louder around town but when spending many hours on the highway the old 40 would make me nuts. As I stated earlier, this one really quiets down nicely at 55mph and above. I had a friend following me the other day and he says he can still hear it outside the truck.

BTW I also have the 4.6 so our results should be similar.

i actually have the 5.4 now, but i dont think it should be too different. my old truck had the 4.6 and 5-speed, was fun to drive and made lots of heads turn. now i miss having the rumble, so i ordered a delta flow 40 and y-pipe, local shop is installing for $40

Spaceman Spiff,
Make sure the stock number on your 40 starts with a 9. That is the only way to know if it is a Super 40 or not. One guy told me that all Delta Flow 40's are now Super 40's but there could be some of the old stuff around.

Have fun...

uinthas,
I tried to reply to your e-mail but it was returned as undeliverable so I will post the information here.
Go to the Flowmaster or Magnaflow web site and get the product number, then e-mail this guy-

performancepeddler@mail.com

He is also all over ebay, just type in ebay search for "Flowmaster Super 40". After you open any of his e-bay ads, there are links to all the other products he sells.
Have fun.

I recommend FLO PRO systems which I recently installed on my '04 and love the sound and performance.

Magnaflow, hands down. I just installed Magnaflow true duals on mine and I'll never go back to Flowmasters now. Here's a link to my Magnaflow gallery:

It's tough to say if its worth the extra money for the magnaflow or not. I live in an area that is exposed to a lot of snow and salted roads and what not so I paid the extra 100 bucks for the magnaflow to get an all stainless steel system. Most people in the area have been telling me that their flowmaster systems which are made of alumanized steel, rusted out in 2-3 years. Personally I am very happy with my Magnaflow, but to each is own.
