jdracer89,
You can hear the exhaust but nothing like not being able to talk to the person next to you. The only thing that hinders communication in my truck is the music.

My first muffler was the non-delta 40 which I cut out the stock muffler and put it on in its place. The stock set-up had the exit in front of the rear wheels. That setup was loud at highway speeds and the droning made me nuts when I towed.

I replaced it with a Magnaflow SI/DO with the pipes out the rear. It had a performance tone under acceleration but just didn't have that growl.

The Super 40 SI/DO is a real nice compromise. I replaced only the muffler and still have the duel pipes out the rear. It is not as loud as the non-delta flow 40 set-up I had but you can definitely hear it around town. Quiets down nicely at 55.

I really do like this set-up

Hope this helps.

Anyone interested in either the Magnaflow or the Flowmaster mufflers can send me an e-mail and I will given them the web address of a guy I started dealing with on e-bay. He is selling these items for about 1/2 the MSRP and has beat every price I have found on mufflers, systems and tips.
I am not affiliated with him and will not make any money on this referral. I just found him to be quite reasonable and his shipping is also very reasonable and fast.
Send me an e-mail

tj4ndirish,
Yes it is Performance Peddler. The exhaust pieces I ordered were not ones he listed on Ebay so I got the part numbers and e-mailed him. He beat BigExhaust.com by 40% and will combine shipping. Best deal I could find.

If any one was wondering the muffler on the Two Guys Garage show that WLF was talking about was the AeroTurbine. I can personally attest it sounds just like it did on the show. It is awesome! Great performance too.

Just an interesting tid-bit, since changing mufflers from the Magnaflow to the Flowmaster Super 40 I have gotten an x-tra 35 miles to the tank. I always monitor my mileage and noticed the increase on both the last tank full and this one. It may have more to do with the weather is warming up some but at least I know the change has not hurt performance.

Can you please provide contact info on this person.
Also if you could provide the part # for the Flowmaster Super 40 DI/DO muffler that would be a plus.
Thanks.

I am not sure they carry a DI/DO. Mine was SI/DO.
You will have to call Flowmaster at 800-544-4761 and ask if they have a part number for a DI/DO Super 40. All Super 40 part numbers start with a 9 so you will know if it is a Super 40 by looking at the first number in the part number.
You may have to go with duel mufflers to use the Flowmasters. I know Magnaflow has a DI/DO with an internal cross over.

After you get the part number e-mail to this guy. He is a power broker on E-bay with a great rating.

Ask for a price shipped. He has Flowmaster and Magnaflow mufflers and Magnaflow cat back systems in stock. I also got my Stainless Magnaflow tips from him. He can get Flowmaster cat back systems for a good price but they have to be drop shipped.

I'm not sure what kind of sound you're looking for but Flowmaster makes a di/do in the 70 series.

Here's the contact info. Sorry, I didn't do any research on the flowmaster. Was sold on the Magnaflow, so that is all I researched.

You probably wouldn't want to get duals straight out the back because then you could get exhaust soot all over your boat. That is the reason I didn't go with duals out the back cause I do a fair amount of towing.

SSR,
I have heard this posted before and I really don't think it is an issue. I tow a small 5TH wheel and have had several 3000+ mile trips. When I get to my destination there is far too much insect guts and road debris on the trailer to be worried about exhaust soot. It takes days or weeks just to soot up the inside of the exhaust pipe after I clean it.
If you want duel exhaust then go for it. If not don't, but don’t worry about the front of your trailer.

I have to say I am very happy with the look and sound of this exhaust upgrade. I know the sound doesn't really matter but it is as much a part of the overall package as any visual upgrade if you ask me. I am trying to find someone who has a digital recorder so I can share this with you guys.

BTW, if there is anyone in the Baltimore area who wants a 2 1/2 SI/DO Magnaflow Stainless muffler then send me an e-mail. It's free if you pick up somewhere convenient for me. It needs to have the tailpipe removed but if you have more energy then money....

I just added the Super 40 Flowmaster to my rig and let me tell you this. You'll love it. I was a little concerned about the noise but it isn't as bad as you think. It seems to be louder driving around town at slow speeds than at highway speeds. But nothing beats the sound of the low rumble moving through the gears going through town! The only thing I want now is a Remote Start kit so I can start it up when I'm outside the truck so I can get the full effect everytime!

rjkjoe,
I guess that makes at least two very satisfied customers.
