Question Looking for high flow BUT quiet muffler any ideas?

I’m looking to replace my stock muffler with a less restrictive one, but I’m concerned with interior noise. My truck is an ’97 extended cab so the muffler will sit under the cab. Do any of you know of a good flowing but quiet muffler? I’m looking for something possibly as quiet as stock, can there be such a muffler? Thanks in advance

I used a Edelbrock RPM series muffler on my 97. It was very quiet. The Borla, Gibson or Dynomax Super Turbo are relitively quiet too.

Go to www.flowmastermufflers.com .They are nice enough to include sound level graphs, interior and exterior. The sound levels will also be diminished on our trucks due to the cat setup. Good Luck !!

Thumbs up

blkbrute, go with the flow master 70 series, almost like stock, but a nice tone is heard on the out side, just replace the muffler, keep the pipe's at 2 1/2 inches, so you will not loose any torque.

Get a delta flow muffler by flowmaster. You will keep your sound outside but lower the resonance in your cab.

Check out Midas, they carry the Ravin system, it has 3 styles depending on what sound you want, I got the middle one and love it. It's not too loud, but has a great sound..

I have a magnaflow.

It's cool to start in the parking lot at a football game... but it's a little embarassing in front of my neighbors... and the drone at highway speeds is excruciating.

I dispise it.

Then again, I'm something of an old fart.

Upgrade to the 22" body if you want no sound. Any aftermarket exhaust will be heard inside so the bigger the muffler the calmer.

I guess there are old farts and then there are not so old farts! I love the sound of a good sounding muffler, and a Maggie ain't it. I love the Flowmaster 40.
