Yup the Delta Flows.
2X SI/SO 50 series. Very nice rummble. Just right for me since I did not want excessive sound. Has a nice bark when you get on it a little. ROAR. That O2 Sensor though Woo Hoo they almost would not do it. So close to the cutting point.

On my 99 4.2L with duals and 3" tips, the FM 40 gurggled quite a bit...with a little popping...I liked it. On my 01 4.6L with 3" turn down, it only popps and gurggles when I stomp it at idle, and let it return to idle. I LOVE it!!!

Yesterday at idle I tried this ,
I stomped it (luckly the rev limiter kicked in as it red lined before my foot hit the board). But I did get a little Pop while it wound down. Sounded kinda like a NASCAR at WOT. The More Foot the more sound.

Question

Lasernav- Been looking for a good exhaust shop around here. Where did you have yours done? Can't seem to find anyone reasonable or with any brains. Struck out with all the Midas places on the Ravin...they don't even know or seem to care what it is. Will probably do FM 40 SI/DO to rear on 2000 5.4 4x4 150. Thanks!

i dont have ant popping with my setup and also the delta 50's sound almost stock. if its sound and performance you want forget the 50's. if its just performance 50 series is ok. as far as true duals a tech at ford and a guy that builds racing engines around here said it is a waste of time and money as the gains arent significant as opposed to 1 in 2 out. im very pleased with my setup and performance and my mpg's went up slightly. good luck with whatever you all decide to do...one dudes roar is another dudes purr i guess, as long as its a ford its all good under the hood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deezer,
Kinda like to walk soft and carry a big stick. (7800 lb’s worth) But getting closer to my 400 hp mark.
I can guarantee you though that my system does not sound anything like stock. Like you said some people roar could be some else’s PERRRRR. At idle they just kinda rumble but When I push all the air though at WOT it wakes up with what I consider quit a roar. LOAD ROAR! (remember It is a LUX vehicle).
I am confused though you mentioned the ford dealer said that there is no (little) difference between A true duel and a SI/DO? I would question this. (This guy builds Race engines)?
Every race car I have ever seen has had True Duels on it. True performance. Go for the gusto. MAX HP.

Question

LaserNav,
I have a question for you. Are you running "true duals?" If so do you have cats? I can not find a muffler shop that will cut my pipes at Y to put duals after it. I live in SD and there are NO EMISSION inspections and they still wont do it. Did I miss somethign?

I know how we all love to experiment with exhaust systems for our trucks and its all a personal thing in my book..... maybe thats why im on my 4th set up on my 97 and still saving money for the 5th one. OK heres my deal.... I love noise so I went with "Y" pipe duals no mufflers straight out the back 2.25 inch...sounded good nice tone and loud. OK thought I was done... decided to add a supercharger..DID THAT...to much restriction in the exhaust I thought so I put on JBA headers and skinned my knuckles like the other guys writing on here! DID THAT... Headers helped a good bit so I figured the "Y" oughta go so I had a guy cut it out and weld in true duals with an H pipe no mufflers (still) all in 2.5 to the middle of the bed then converted into those 2.25 tails from before. Sounded Like CRAP and pulling my 22' Baja was ungodly loud when mashing the trottle and echoing off the hull of the boat. Next adventure.... I Cut out the H pipe and now have True duals and mufflers (california Thrush Turbos) they have a wonderful note but they are robbing hourse power above 4500 rpm as compared to not having mufflers before. (I turn the 4.6 at ~8 psi at 6000 rpm) The truck sounds wonderful in cab and has a resonable throaty performance sound now and keeps the cops off me when Im pulling my boat. I will hopefully settle for 2.5 inch true duals with flowmasters (flomaster said their mufflers should help scavenge the exhaust out of my force fed 4.6L.
Goodluck to all Im still trying to get the "right" set up for me. OOO! by the way the 454 fuelie in the boat sounds increadible through 4 inch open wet exhaust throught the hull at 4600 rpm....just hope those same cops dont get boats LOL!

Yes, The cut at the y pipe was a tricky one as it cost me an extra $50 to have the 02 sensor removed while they cut it. The 02 sensor is mounted almost directly on the "Y" pipe. Also I do have the setup just like the setup in the picture above (INCLUDING an "H" pipe just before my first muffler)Two Resonators and two Cats and Two )2 sensors.I think this is the only way we can get away with it (Washington at least).. We have strick inspections.
