Thanks man...heck yeah I'm happy with the results. Now I know why I chose Flowmaster!!! (Again.) I was a little worried there at first. I'm not running the pictured setup, that's what I'm aiming for...maybe next summer.

Flowmaster 40 series eh? Interesting, Im thinking that setup may be nice with lets say some dynomax high flo series..., whats the demensions on the pipes before and after the mufflers, and where do the muffler tip on the left hand side go? You didnt indicate a turn down or not...

Does this mean that F150s have true duals or is it just me?

Hey man...both sides should be the same, only the driver's side is "shorter", because it has to cross over to the pass. side. You could have them cut the pipe out before the "Y", and go with 3" also. The 3" pipe fits nicely over the FM's 2 1/2" inlet / outlet. Just have em' chop some of the FM's tubing and they can "butt" the pipe right up against the body of the FM and weld it. I'd stay with 2 1/2" stainless until the muffler though, to allow for clearence, and to keep some back pressure.

Jackal,
So your gonna run a true dual setup then? Why do you think this will be the best setup? I'm just curious because I can't decide on a SI/DO or true dual setup. Lemme know. Thanks.

The guys at FM, and the guys in Cali. tell me that the "Y" is very restrictive. Plus, I bet it sounds mean as hell!!! I do wonder about back pressure though, however, they tell me the CATS take care of all that.

Cool

I've been posting Y-pipe woes for months. The Y on my truck had the driver's side pipe squeezed down to 2.25". The angle and entry of the driver's side pipe is poor too. The single exit is 2.5" ,and no larger pipe thereafter can flow more than a 2.5" pipe. 1)SI/DO muffler cannot either. Also 3" duals cannot flow more if they are added to any part of the 2.5" headpipe. So, 3" catbacks (which most are) cannot flow more than the 1)2.5" pipe which feeds them. Solution = 3" exit Y-pipe. Your most forward restriction limits everything from there back.

Hey Guys,

I talked to an exhaust guy today, and he said not to bother with 3" pipes for anyhting under 300HP. He said that the main attraction of the exhaust is the sound and feul mileage and that most systems only truly add about 7-9HP and that most people won't even notice that much.

He recommended that I run true duals straight back (from the y) with no mufflers.

I'll let you guys know how it sounds.

Question

Hey man, how do you run true duals from the "Y" back? Do you mean, from the CATS back? Second, I agree...3" pipe is a waste in this case, but it does make a big difference in sound, which is why I suggested 3" after the mufflers. Also, I doubt you'd be happy with no muffler as it will probably be too loud, with a major highway drone, and very "poppy" I'd imagine. Not to mention illegal. Good luck though, I'd like to know how they sound. Duals is more of a waste than 3" pipe though, unless it's for looks. I'd say, cut the "Y" out and go true 2 1/2" duals, or fit a 3" pipe over the end of the "Y" to the muffler, and exit however you wish. Hte 3" at the "Y" would, I imagine, make some sort of difference, since that is the point where the volume doubles. Right?

Hey Jakel,
I had just got a quote on a your setup since this is what I have been looking for as well. My local performance shop has quoted me $385.00 installed. All welded joints, seams and hangers with a lifetime guarantee. This quote included (2) 50 series FM if he could get them to fit. This price did not include any type of TIP. Duel out the rear corner. I am Pumped as he said this setup would give Approx 10-20 HP with my heavy breathing NAV. This should put me close to 375-395 HP (The Performace guy estamtes with my current setup). Header are next when they are developed.

Looking at Hitting 400 Hp without a blower. Using in addition, headers and duel CatBack. (If possible)
(Waiting for JBA to develope Headers)

Full Factory Skid Plates. 302 Long Block, K&N FIPK JBA Chrome Headers, Custom Catback using Flowmaster Muffler, Duel out side behind rear wheel.

Awesome!!! Not a bad price, IMO. I'm warning ya though, you won't get much sound out of those 50 delta's, but if it' performance your after...than you'll be happy I'm sure.

Jackal,
just had it done. Cant wait to really stomp on it. Let the nav stretch it legs a little. My shop had a little problem cutting around the Pasanger side O2 sensor since it is mounted almost right on the "Y" pipe. Seperation was complete with "H" pipe installed. This was recommended by FlowMaster. My total price was 430.00 bucks with TAX.
