Water dripping - good or bad?
Okay, so water is leaking from a rivet on the exhaust housing(?) on the underside of my truck toward the passenger side rear of the truck. It's a '92 XLT Supercab - is it simple exhaust replacement or something more serious? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the same problem. Had Ford put the computer on the truck and everything checked out ok. I have it so bad that it gets blown out of the tailpipe and onto the truck which leaves some black on my truck. It worried the hell out of me for a long time but Ford says its normal..

Hey R I would just get it checked out. I just noticed that your truck is a 92. Has it ever leaked water? I am sure others will respond on this with other reasons that might be causing this..

JESUS H. CHRIST!!!!!!! IT'S PERFECTLY NORMAL!!!!! WHEN YOUR EXHAUST SYSTEM COOLS DOWN, CONDENSATION FORMS AND GETS BLOWN OUT WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED AS WELL AS LEAKED OUT THROUGH WEEP HOLES THAT ARE THERE TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR EXHAUST SYSTEM BY DRAINING POTENTIALLY CORROSIVE CONDENSATE!!!!!
Dam FordMan!! Some of us (me anyway) have always drove a car but I was finally lucky enough to be able to purchase my first new F-150. In all me years of driving I have never had so much water in my exhaust until my F-150. Hell I wasn't for sure if that was normal or not so I turned to F-150 Online. Thanks to the help of everyone I came to realize that this is normal. I can understand why RShults is asking this question.. He was worried like I was. So give us a break and be a little easy on us. We just want to make sure our babys are ok.. Thats all....

Whenever your engine, on whatever vehicle you drive, is shut down, condensate forms in the exhaust system as it cools. The next time you drive it, it gets blown out and drained through the "weep holes." If you make lots of short trips, where the engine and exhaust don't get adequate warm up time, the condensate lays up in the pipe and the muffler and corrodes your system. This is true of ALL cars, you're just now noticing it.
Fordman, I see you wrote that all cap reply last evening, Now tonight before you get ready for bed, Take a good laxative and 2 asprin, you'll feel better for the next day of postings...Ha ha

Something else to consider when comparing the F-150 to other vehicles, especially cars: The size of the muffler! That thing is huge! Much more volume than a car muffler, which means much more cold air being warmed, so the volume of condensation will be much greater! Also, the length of your commute will be a contributing factor to the amount of water you see leaking out of the system. If you just drive far enough to fill the muffler with water, it will leak out once the vehicle is stopped. If you drove far enough, the hot exhaust gasses would once again cause the water that accumulates to vaporize and exit with the rest of the exhaust gasses leaving the muffler dry. That is until it cooles down again, and then the cool moist air from outside would once again be drawn into the muffler! So, as you can see, it's a never ending process, and perfectly normal, just more noticable in these trucks!

Thanks again all for the responses. Fordman, you have nailed my situation on the head, as I do have a tendency to use my truck often on short trips - hey, whatcha gonna do, it's too much fun to drive
!! In these situations is exactly when I notice the water drips... I have no worries!

Paul T, I've got dynomaxs turbos
on mine and they water as bad as
the orignal muffler, plus my cats
drip like the A/C overflow.
Like I posted earlier, I could be
in Death Valley and have fresh
water to drink....Take Care

Actually, I've had my lithium dosage upped. I was also kidding last night, but since you can't hear the inflection of my voice, you may get the wrong impression. I just would not want to pay, since your vehicle is probably out of warranty, or spend a day at the dealership, for something that is perfectly normal. RShults, if your muffler rusts out, now you'll know why.
And look on the bright side. The sooner it rusts out the sooner you can get that aftermarket system on there!
