Question MagnaFlow Mufflers?

I just saw an add for MagnaFlow mufflers in the latest issue of Sport Truck and visited their web site. The claim 14HP gains on a 98 F-150 with the 5.4 engine! It doesn't appear they sell direct, but rather through muffler shops such as Meineke. Has anyone had any experiences with these mufflers? The desige sound good, straight through, no baffles, no louvers, and a stainless steel (almost like steel wool) mesh surrounding the perferated through pipe, and then added sound and vibration deadening material between the mesh and the 16 gage exterior wall of the muffler. I may have to call the local Meineke tomorrow and ask some questions. Thought or comments?

Cool

Hi PaulT, Our Trucks are very simular. I am running a set of JBA's and a single in dual out MagnaFlow muffler. It was installed at a local muffler shop and makes my truck sound like a little "Hemi Cuda." It does not resonate on the highway and I can enjoy the stereo as well. Magna Flow has a web site with more info if you need it but I would definately recommend the set up.

Flats,

If you don't mind me asking, what was the price of your system like in FL? I'm in VA, near DC, so I bet it's going to be more! I've been to their web site, they do have a lot of information. I'm going to measure my stock muffler tomorrow and see is they have a replacement muffler I can bolt on without having to cut and weld! I'm on a real tight buget up here and hope to be able to do this mod myself! Thanks for you comments!

Well I checked around this morning, and it doesn't appear the places listed on MagnaFlow's web site carry their mufflers any more! I guess I'll call them and see what they say! Still trying!

PaulT, The bill for the MagnaFlow with stainless duals was around $200 and that included stainless three inch tips out the back. Keep looking!

I just put a Magnaflow on my 5.4L and a K&N filter. Along with the Super Chip from Mike...she now flies.
I installed just the muffler on existing pipes. I like the sound, not so loud but you know there is a V8 under the hood. It's unreal how a straight though muffler can actually muffle the sound so much. I don't know how many horses it adds...but it hauls butt. Personal opinion...I don't think the mandrel bent pipes make enough difference for the money. $120 for the Magnaflow installed and out the door. Lifetime warranty vs Flowmaster's no warranty.
It has a deep sound when pushed and very little over OEM when at idle. I like it !

O.A.

Where did you get yours installed? I checked all the places listed on MagnaFlows web page, and had no luck finding anyone who dealt with MagnaFlow! Not sure why they have them listed. I'd like to have a place like Midas or Meinike do the work as I'm moving from VA to GA in three months, and I know both have shops in the area I'm moving to! Thanks for your input!

Thumbs up

I had a Magnaflow installed on mine at a local Meineke shop here in the Atlanta area. I like the way it sounds.

I have a Magna flow setup on my f250 LD and they do sound great. I notice the greatest gains at full throtle...the truck makes people turn their heads. I would recomend them.

Yah, but still good info though. I saw good deals on ebay but I don't really trust it after dealing with some shady sellers their in the past. Where did you get your Mag muffler? Or have you been shopping around anywhere?

I'm looking at Mag as well as the Flows, probably get one after I get paid on the first.

Thanks

Bought mine off them. beat the competitors price, and gave me free shipping.
